you would wanna go 2.25... unless you're running a hardcore N/A tune or Turbo then you can consider going larger... but if it's just bolt ons 2.25 is fine.

For your price range you might wanna check out some muffler shops who can custom-fabricate it.. But don't go crush bend or aluminized steel you'll regret it..

Usually for a full custom made cat-back using proper stainless steel you're looking at spending roughly 300-450 depending on who does it for you..

I personally know a shop called majestic muffler you can give them a call... they're in the scarborough-pickering border... google majestic muffler you can find the number..

For any b-series DOHC vtec, 2.5" for the whole exhaust system is ideal when combined with a good intake setup.

On my 00 SiR b16, I've got a jdm itr header with 2.5" collector, port-matched with fully custom 2.5" exhaust system front-to back that I made myself. All in cost me about $400.

If you go 2.5" piping, make sure your cat and header has a 2.5" collector and no smaller.

If it's just a cat back with stock cat and header, 2.25" is fine.

OP you are not loosing power, you are just gaining low end torque. mild back pressure from stock exhaust system will decrease top end yet increase low end power.

2.5" would be most optimal yet with a nice flowing 2.25 system it would be ok.
Just to let you know, you will not gain 30-50hp from putting exhaust on. Hell you will not notice any power gains. Unless you get a very well flowing header, and run 2.5" piping with highflow car [emission purposes] and an open chamber muffler your gains wont be that noticeable anyways.
If you exhaust system is still good, i would just say get an axle back and call it a day. the difference in 1-2hp that may be in the end is not worth spending much money. thats just my opinion.

agree

but i think a lot of people put an exhaust because they want a better sound. I know i put mine in because , first i had a crack in the pipe and then I wanted a better sound , regardless of the gains

Actually i did noticed some gains in torque , my car pulls stronger i think .. Then again the headers and downpipe were changed before...

The only thing i regret is not going 2.5 in the piping since I read somewhere 2.50 is a better option if you plan on putting a turbo, i just went 2.25 ...

OP: you can check some of the TCC vendors for a high flow cat. Just be careful as you may have issues with passing emissions test with some high flow cats.

My full 2.5" system failed horribly this past winter with a magnaflow cat. I ended up replacing it with a universal 2.5" cat from emico technologies (bought it from a local shop in newmarket). After that it passed with flying colours.

Just something to watch out for.

Rick, if you are planning on going turbo, a 3" exhaust with a 3" downpipe would be better

yea i know now ! But i was told that if i go higher than 2 5 without a turbo i will be losing power....

I really want a turbo but i want to do it right , no some ebay crap so I still need to save up more i guess.. A swap sounds tempting too but i think i turbo would be more fun

If you wanna go faster but don't wanna swap what ya got, turbo is the answer. (if you have the cash).
