Cat-back exhuast and short ram intake- Increasing hp?
hey I might be buying a 96 civic hatchback dx 1.6 L . Looking at the car's stock specs, it has a bout 106 hp. I want to add a bit more horse power to it. My first idea is to add a short ram air intake to it and also a cat-back exhaust. Can anyone tell me how much hp i will be adding to the car with the installment of an air intake and a cat-back exhaust. if its possible please give me seperate numeric hp values for an intake and a cat-back exhaust , and not a total amount of hp.
thanks

grab your self a y8 intake manifold and a y8 exhaust manifold
about $100 at the junkyard it'll make a big differance in power.
my car feels like it has vtec when it hits about 4500 rpm it's funny as hell
the y8 exhaust maniold is just like an ebay 4-2-1 or any aftermarket one just cheaper and oem quality!

Just a catback and short ram will maybe give you 3 to 5 whp if that.
A full 2.25" with a intake and header would be your best bet at getting a little more whp. That combo should take you anywhere around 110 to 115 whp.
Your car stock only has 106hp to the crank, factor in 10% loss. So if you get anything above 110whp I'd be happy if I was you.

I know that my old combo from back in the day will net more then that.
B7 engine
A6 camshaft
Si tranny
Aem cai, e-gay header, 2.25"exhaust
0.40" milled head = 133whp
That was quite a few years a'go.
Most Sohc's with just I/H/E will net you any where between 110 to 115 whp.

You have to watch what you say. Sometimes you're saying 'whp' and other times you're saying 'hp'. There is a big difference. One is at the flywheel and one is at the wheels.

There I fixed it for you. And I only said it once which was a type-o.
