its a short ram guys. no point in spending 200+ $$ on it. its piping with a filter. just get ebay or flea market type. $50 should be max of what you're spending on it.

Filter is important... I'd go with a cheap ebay pipe for 30 bucks and buy an AEM dryflow filter for 40... If you can find it, they do go on ebay for that much if your timing is right. Spending 200+ on an AEM system is RIDICULOUS because these engines just don't gain any kind of horsepower from bolt ons (except turbo). That being said, if your going to order the parts seperately make sure they are the same diameter, so you don't get any nasty surprises. If you really want cool sound and are willing to waste the money Weapon R make awesome intakes

thanks for the response. im not looking at spening more than 200$ but at the same time, i dont want it to sound like i strapped a can to te front intake if you know what i mean. So im just loooking for a seperate pipe without filter? does the quality of filter determine the sound or the pipe? i know the basics about cars and have had to replace altenator and rad on my old car after an accident. i just dont know much about after market stuff

The sound is mainly determined by the pipe I believe... Weapon R sound awesome because they are dual chamber pipes (most of them). Even a cheap ebay pipe will sound better than OEM. Your looking for a cheap intake that will come with the filter but don't use that filter, its garbage and doesnt filter anything. Just throw it away and put an AEM dryflow on it.

Don't even get one.
Buy a K&N Filter if you want, but really it's all a waste of money.

(Re-read OP)
For sound, I had an AEM CAI. It 'sounded' like crickets in a field. My drunk sister once began talking the 'crickets' as I was driving her (and my wife) drunk asz' home from the bar. I had to actually prove to her that it was my intake and not crickets...

Don't do it for the sound. And remember: it's pronounced Race, not rice.
