1990 civic catalyst ???

I just purchased this car last weekend and after getting it home and putting it on a hoise i noticed there is NO catalytic converter. I checked the underhood sticker and it also makes no mention of catalyst under the emission section.

Should this car have a Catalytic converter??

Thanks guys

I'm pretty sure it should. My buddies 91 Si hatch has it. Unless the acceptable limits for emissions are very high, I don't see how it would pass. Also, does it have stock exhaust?

I did a quick search on Google and it does not say anything about your car not having a catalytic converter.

However wikipedia says the following

D16A7

(Basically a D16A6 that came without a catalytic converter)
Honda D engine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

D16A9

(Same as D16A8 but without a catalytic converter)

I guess you could try to find out which engine you have and then search it in Wikipedia or Google . that will help you determined if the car came with a catalytic converter or not.Like you can see some engines did not come with a cat converter (although those were the Europe models)

though d16a7's did not come in Canada. Canadian releases have their standards. different places like Europe do not require an emissions test (at least in some parts of Europe). Also, finding out the engine it has will not do any good. It could be a swap. Either way you will need a catalytic converter to pass etest.

ALL cars built/intended to be on North American soil has needed a catalytic converter since 1975.
