Zeeman or other techs...Wanna help me out?

I got a first gen sohc zc and I just got the z6 head, Vtec Solenoid, Brand new OEM z6 Timing belt, and complete gasket kit for it already. Now Imma probably get a A'PEXI Vtec Controller tonight or just get a RPM switch to hook up VTEC. Now im gonna use my stock PO6 ECU (thats the reason for the Controller or switch) so I dont wanna convert OBD's. or should I go PR3 (EF8/EF9).

Now I have an idea as to what needs to be done but i font wanna mess anything up so Im asking if we can do it TOGETHER cause Im in college and am so eager to learn so?

Zeeman u up for it or anyone else that is EXPERIENCED.

I wanna have everything I need in the next week or so. I only need a EG Si FPR and the vtec controller or the rpm switch

i would use a PR3 or PW0 ecu (obd0 vtec ecus). They can be easily chipped but people usually charge out the a$$ for them b/c they're sort of hard to come by.
Although, if you know you're going to require some custom tuning later on, i would just convert to obd1. Crome rocks compared to the obd0 rom editing programs (bre, turboedit).
If you use an unchipped pr3 you will have to wire in a knock sensor otherwise you'll get a CEL for the knock sensor, since the pr3 has a knock board and looks for a knock sensor. Or chip it and eliminate the knock sensor all together.
If you need me to do any work (chipping, swapping, wiring) for you just PM me.

K so if I use the PR3 ECU then I wont need the VTEC Controller right? and then VTEC will hit to what it hits on the EF8/EF9?

thats correct.

This is from the b16a1 manual.
All you have to do is wire:
vtec solenoid to pin A8
vtec pressure switch to pin B5
knock sensor B19
and possibly the 2nd o2 to C8
as per:

well using a vtec controller is a real crappy way of activating vtec. Sure it will work, but the ecu doesn't have the vtec fuel/ignition maps so it will require some tuning, and a vafc is a crappy method of tuning.
I would honestly just use a obd0 vtec ecu, it will save you a lot of headaches in the end.
Yes, i have msn.....z_manith@hotmail.com

no need for a controller OR vtec ecu..

use a 90/91 AUTOMATIC ecu ... from SI only,

pm6..

use the automatic lockup solonoid to control vtec, and enable dual maps in turboedit...works like a charm....www.pgmfi.org.

this is exactly why i suggested using a pr3 ecu. Its not likely that you have a chip burner or computer with turboedit/BRE on it. Or the know-how to use turboedit. I wouldn't mess around unless you really know what you are doing.
