swap in an Si motor(sohc vtec 127hp)
dohc ZC is roughly around 130hp but these motors are old and not that reliable.
other's might say different(mainly cluster ) but majority of them will agree with me.

you're better off going with the Si motor if you're on a budget and want reliability. these motors can be had for very cheap as everyone is just throwing them away after a swap.

talk to KS-R as i'm sure he might have one for you. if not then just ask around.

if i were you though, i'd save my money. wait it out until you can afford a b16. because everyone knows those motors rock

I agree. Might as well, save the money for a B16.

I think you have been confused by Cluster's somewhat dry sense of humor. Bah.

OR you can go with the B18b (DOHC non VTEC), if budget is a concern.. I swapped my D16y7 with the B18b (I wanted B18C1 or B16a2 but more pricey), and there's more than enough power (went from 100+hp to 140+hp). And when you add some mods... even BETTA~!

Geekracer, I think I talked to you from another thread, also about engine swaps.. anyways, a good friend of mine did it so I got a really good deal.. around $2800 for parts, labour, and conversion. I only trust him coz he's done many swaps and some conversions including mine

Just shop around.. but like I said, if you're REALLY interested just email me:

mark-hao@rogers.com

I've done the shopping, I know a lot of things you'll need to know like the cpu you'll need, sensors (like O2 diff with auto and manny), harnesses and a lot and lot and lot of little things! Just be careful on who will do the whole job for you as well (can't stress that enough!!!)

I would be more than glad to help you guys out and share any info

Rough price.

The price difference is more than double in comparision to the Si and B16.. Now.. the 3rd gen ZC (92+ ) isn't all that bad of a choice.. You'll start off with more low end torque than the Si.. the only problem with a 3rd ZC swap is that you need to get the ecu with it, or else you won't be able to get the full potential of the engine. Most if not all the JDM engine importers .. won't have the ecu for the motor.. let along having the motor either.. (they're quite hard to come by)

So to avoid any headaches or dissappointment... the Si might be a simpler choice to go.. eventhough the price difference isn't all that great.

THe B16 is a different story... Just a whole new ball game.
