well it's a ZC... that's why it's called a ZC. but D-series tranny bolts up and some accessories and stuff.

I've heard of someone using a D16Z6 block and ZC DOHC head. I HEARD!!! I haven't seen it for myself. But then again I have heard of an F20 Prelude with the H22A head on it... it worked but leaked coolant everywhere.

you would have to use a D-series piston, B-series has a MUCH bigger bore. to be perfectly honest, I think you'd be better off starting out with a D16Z6 and building that, cuz you can get cams, valves, sleeves, retainers and springs, conn rods, bearings, ARP studs and all that good stuff a LOT easier than you would trying to build a ZC. There are 150-160 WHP SOHC VTEC engines out there that are normally aspirated but they run 13+ compression and individual throttle bodies.

ya D16Z6 is 92-95 Si
and regrind cams... umm touchy subject. I personally would not put reground cams in my engine, but many ppl do with great success I guess.

two cams are better than one... by design. but considering the aftermarket support for the D16Z6... it's a better choice in this case. if you REALLY want two cams, go with a B16A like B16civic did haha

so for a strong build on a d-series motor, I say start with the D16Z6

Id say forget the D series all together and Get a B16. I know Im getting flamed for this. D motor's are good but I dont' see the reasoning of Building one up Internally when you can start with a B motor? As bbarbulo mentioned you might as well start with a D16z6 if you really want to stick with D motor's. B motor's cost more to swap and are more of a hassle but There a Far superior motor. I wouldn't bother building up a D. Just get a Vtec D16 and Put some bolt on's on. www.teknotik.com has a Vtec D15 for only $500. For that price you might as well jsut bolt it in, add a few mods and have some fun. D motor's are definetly cost effective and Pretty fast for the money. But they aren't the Giant Killer's Like B motor's. Even a Non-Vtec B motor has more potential than a Vtec D motor.

HA.
Nice.
I was going to ask almost the same question.

I have a DOHC ZC engine in my 94 right now.
I am planning on getting something else.
But probably not till next winter.

So I want to know what parts I could buy for the ZC.
I just want some basic bolt ons.
Just to give it a bit more kick.

So D series it is right?

None of the boltons specifically for the zc , like cams, are really worth it considering how much they cost and how little power you gain. The only stuff that will really gain you power on a d series is either a turbo or some major engine work or both. IMO the best swap is the non v-tec b18, swap on a v-tech head do a couple bolt ons for a little extra power or turbo it and you can make wicked power just off the stock b18 with not a whole lot of boost. Dont get me wrong though, the twin cam zc has gotta be one of honda's best all around performing non v-tech motors, im still quite happy with it and Im gonna be more happy once i get into all this turbo nonsense! And if the zc blows up then I do the b18!
