YOur thoughts on ZC?
IM preparing to do my first swap on a honda. Cars and motors are nto new to me, but currently my budget is low , im basically curious as to all your opinions on the ZC, and its performance capabilities?>
THANKS

IMHO, I would go with the D16Z6. You give up a little power stock for stock...but you get so much more support, both aftermarket and Hondaparts.
The ZC is definitely does not have the support of the SOHC. As for the B16....nah, I won't get into that...

Yeah, you're right.
In the world of Honda interchangeability though, Frnkenstein motors rock! Lets face it, DOHC VTEC engines are pretty steep for what you get.
For the original topic; the ZC IS a good engine. It is the engine Honda used when they were engineering the B series. Put a ZC next to a B18A, they are almost identical.
The SOHC D-series are more readily available, and finding one with low mileage shouldn't be a problem, probably for a third the price...

I second donesixer's response, the D series can be built to really shock ppl. The aftermarket has really turned these motors into beasts. Stock for stock though, I'd save up and do the B16.

My internally stock D16 has more torque than a B16.
But, yup, if you don't know how to modify an engine, and you want an upgrade, do the B16.
Nothing beats an engine with potential that can be found for less than the cost of a tire.

The b16 (in many forms) usually only have around 5-8 more torque than the D16.

Bottom end is stock. And YES I believe I do have more torque.
I also have a shitty transmission. That is the D-series main drawback.
As I said before, the B16 is geometrically perfect, but still only 1.6 litres. You want to swap throw in an H22. Now THAT is a swap that is worth the $$.

Throw an H22 in a 4th gen and forget about handling. Besides its not a cheap swap.
B16 and ZC are a lot cheaper.
I'd say b18c5(hee hee) and then rule the auto-cross! lol
Besides everyone knows Honda's aren't known for torque, since they make their power in the topend.
Back to the original question though, you will most likely be happy with the ZC, since you have DX, you will notice a power increase.
Just wondering, do you want it as a daily driver or track car?

Oh, into an '88 CRX? If you could make it fit...crappity...
HASport sells a mount kit I believe.
I assumed it was a 5th gen for some reason.
Throw a SOHC VTEC head on your Si bottom end. Should bring you up to the same as a ZC.
But, wow...an H22...I think you should do it.
