year of engines
how do identify the year of an engine ? is there a code stamped on the block ...if there is where is it located?
its stamped on the front beside the headers, if the original, then check the vin # or internet info on the car. 96 civic, might be some kind of d series vtec.
do all honda engines hav ethe year stamped on the block? i guess that makes sense.. but ya if it is on the block its between the 3rd and 4th exhaust port. or 2nd and 3rd.. i forget. just look on the front of the engine lol
so it'll be a code or it'll actually stamp the year of production?
for example mine says D15B, type that into google and itll pop up my year of car.
actual year. well last 2 digits.. at least it does on my 89 dohc zc . might be different for newer engines.
D = series of engine 15= 1.5L displacement
he said year of the engine.. not the code..
theres a date stamp on all heads. i believe its on the front passenger side. Look for it, you'll find it. There should be one on the block as well, not sure where though. |
woudnt the code give a rough estimate or no?like the d15b2 only came in few cars stock.
would give a rough estimate yes. But not the exact year.
oh alright sorry about the mixup
My 99 civic has a Year date on the driver side engine mount right near the power steering . It corresponds with the year of car I have but Im not sure if this will help you because it is not directly on the engine.
It is on the head, stamped in a circle, looks something like this:
9|8 3|7 ..... so year and month. As in which order, I forgot. But a Hynes or Helms should be able to identify those numbers for you. |
thx guys
production year is cast into the block/head, not stamped.
