Is it worth to turbo my Mini-me Engine??

I did a mini-me swap this year May. Its D15B7 block and D16Z6 head. The block and head are about 240,000km and want to turbo it. I tell you guys that this enigne is running excellent with regular maintenance. I know Z6 engines are are dead cheap but want to try turbo my mini-me till it dies not blow it or put a hole on the block. Planning to put T3 turbo, 440cc injectors, etc.., then run it with 6-8psi for daily driving. What u guys think? Thanks guys!!!

John

boost the stock block and buy the z6 on the side to build. from what you're telling me that motor should last you long enough until your other engine is built as long as you don't beat the **** out of it everyday. go on H-T, people are boosting their engines with 260xxx clicks and up.

go for it.
just make sure you have access to another car in case something happens. I wouldn't turbo my daily driver unless i had access to another car, lots of cash and are mechanically inclined or have a good trusty mechanic.
don't forget tuning, very important for a boosted car, especially a daily driver.

Mini me's are usually high compression motors therefore not the best choice for boost. As long as you don't exceed 6 lbs and have a good tune you should be o.k. Anything more is risky.

My compression rate right now is very very close to 11. About 5-7 psi to start for daily driving then when mini-me give up i'll get a new Z6 engine and slap that turbo on.

i don't know how you got 11:1 compression ratio when a mini me nets you right below 10:1. unless you have aftermarket forge internals in there then i would believe that you have close to 11:1 compression ratio. mini me's are not high at all, boost away.

I did CR for my mini-me and i got 10.55:1. Is that a good CR for 5-8psi of boost?

what kind of headgasket are you using? if you're using the stock b7 hg ur under 10. a 2 layer will net you around what you claimed.

and it's not about how many psi you can run, it's about how much power you make. you can make 200whp on a small t25 at 10-12 psi but make the same amount of power on a bigger turbo at a lower psi.

i used Y8 and removed the middle layer. for now im looking around 170-close to 200hp for start then get a new z6 engine with new piston, rods, headstud and HG running about 12-16psi to reach 250hp with tuning. Sounds good to me, what u think guys!!??

u'll be fine with oem hg at those numbers. some tuner toy rods and vitara pistons and you can hit those number no problem. i remember seeing someone on clubsi selling that setup for dirt cheap.

Right now, i will turbo my mini-me till it gives up then go for the new z6 engine with minor build up internals. Since Im going turbo, Im undecided chich one I should go; FMU, AFC hack or Chipped ECU w/ TE, Uber, Crome????

don't go afc hack, that wouldn't last very long at all.

well i know my mini-me 245,000km engine will not last with turbo with a little bit of fun here and there. Then buy new z6 engine, slap turbo on, use crome/TE/Uber and do a real tuning. I want to save my money for real tuning to the new engine not with my mini-me engine...
