Wire Tucking

okay, i've heard lots about wire tucks... but no real way of how to do it. now, i'm gonna be picking up a 4g4d this weekend (hopefully) and swapping the ZC into it and wanna know the best way to do the wire tuck. any help is mucho gracias

thanks :D

simple.

take off fenders bumper hood.

drill holes and put in grommets wherever needed to run wiring, extend whatever wires you need to extend (solder and heatshrink please) and make it all disappear from plain view.

the concept is simple, the execution is harsh. if you gotta ask how to do it, then really it's not for you. it's a very custom and personal project. there is really no real 'how to' on it. i mean.... just HIDE THE WIRES.

alright, but i've heard of people putting the fuse box in side the car as well, just wondering if thats a hard task at all? lol

if your willing to go out and get a shyt load of wire (i'd personally keep each stretched wire a color of it's own) and map it all out ahead of time so you can't lose track of what your up to then go for it...plus as Bruno pointed out, remove body panels etc.

just a fuse box would be an easier place to start, but like i said, map it out
an '89 would be a lot easier to do than a 2002 :D

you could carburate the car and eliminate a whole bunch of circuits that way :D

IMO not worth the time and effort. I bet if you did this not even 20% of people who saw the engine bay would know the difference!

imported_1PhatCX 30-Jul-2005 12:47 PM

yea but i like the look of a clean engine bay :)

the fuse box will go inside the car no problem, I think only 1 wire needs to be extended...I was gonna do this too but I'm lazy and I just got hid some of the other crap instead of totally gutting the engine bay

Some people think spending 5k on a ef is not worth the time and effort but thats a state of opinion. If you do a COMPLETE wire tuck, people will always ponder "why does it look so empty"

imported_1PhatCX 30-Jul-2005 03:31 PM

Wouldn't a wire tucking a be a pain in the ass especially if you have had any problems?

imported_1PhatCX 01-Aug-2005 12:01 PM

yes.... yes it would lol

stock94block 01-Aug-2005 01:57 PM

it wont look as clean as those VW's that got posted last week if thats what you're trying to do

stock94block 01-Aug-2005 02:05 PM

thats a clean bay, but it could be just as clean with all the wires too.

imported_1PhatCX 01-Aug-2005 02:09 PM

you do make a good point, i think i'm just gonna put the motor in and not worry about it for now then.
