window weld in my engine mounts

I have been beating up on my car a lot lately, and ended up with some damage to my driver's side mount and the stiffener that the AC bracket attaches to.

Not wanting to get new mounts, I decided to try the window weld hack.

I bought 2 tubes ($17/tube) at parts source and went nuts filling every little cavity in my mounts i could get to.

It really improved the way my car feels, and the added vibrations are not too noticable.

Very worthwhile thing to do if you have older, softened engine mounts.

This is good information that applies to any vehicle with some miles/abuse.

Another option for people with Hondas would be to go with a set of Energy Suspension engine mount bushings that slip into your stock mounts. I believe they go for around the same price ($30 or so)

For those of you with mounts that are REALLY bad ie. broken/hanging/shreaded you COULD use a combination of window weld and inserts to fix your problems.

ERTW, you are suppose to take out your engines mounts while doing so, am I correct? But you just reached in and filled the gaps?

And I love the feeling of stiff engine mounts. Shifting hard has never been a problem ever since.

My car vibrates harder than your average *****.

it is good practice to work on load-bearing components when they are in an un-loaded state.

you could fill it when it is in the car. i doubt there would be any noticable consequences.

yeah I filled mine in the car as well. I used a 6" long 1/2" ID hose duct taped to the end of the gun. This way I could feed the hose directly into the mount and fill it in. I could reach each individual cavity this way. Just a thought.

mounts are not that expensive, you could have just got a new mount which will last longer and is made for a purpose, instead of window weld, for a little more money.
