Wilwood Vs Brembo
I was wondering about big break kits and whihc are good breaks for an eg civic. I heard wilwood and brembo are the best but which one is better? Also how much does the 4 piston caliper with 12" rotors cost so in other word how much is it for these big break kits?
|
if i remember correctly brembo does not make a big brake kit for honda's.
i believe they are only offered as a stock item on the DC5. willwood is good expect to pay about 1100.00 for a starter set 2 piston i believe. Or around 700 and up for a used one maybe even 4 piston. |
how much is it for a brand new 4 piston caliper 12.19" two piece rotor and all the bolts and conversion. In othr words how much is it for a wilwood brake kit for an eg civic? BRAND NEW

Probably more then the car they are going on is worth. Why not try something from FastBrakes? They use mostly OEM parts and/or Wilwood parts. You could even do an ITR swap. |
dont forget all the stopping power in the world wont stop you if you dont got good tires the stickier they are the better the hold then again the worse the fade. Really good tires are definately not good for daily driving because they eat away fast.
imo i would go with a itr 4X114.3 swap. complete will cost you roughly 1200 dollars and that will include 4 itr rims with H red centre caps in white and the complete suspension assembly. OEM is BEST!!!! |
so how much is a wilwood big brake kit worth? are fuzion tires any good?
|
Brembo does make brake upgrade kits for Honda 4x100 application. But you need 17" wheels to clear it, at least.
Wilwood is good American brand I believe, as tested by many NASCAR teams. Though brake is an important factor of an overall car package, unless your car needs it, it is just bling AND if bling is what you are after, suit yourself by all means. We aren't suppliers or dealers, so call Wilwood or Brembo for prices. I did call Brembo about their upgrade kit 3 years ago. Somewhere in the neighbourhood of 2500 dollars USD and above. ----------------- As for tires, don't throw out a brand name, what do you want? Summer performance? Summer Ultra Performance? Track only? |
well for im just looking for summer performance. i have dunlops on my rims now but i need to change them maybe in april. which would you recoomend?
|
RA1 is nice. Azenis RT-615 is worth a try. Advan A032 and Bridgestone S-03 are also nice.
|
these are the tires that are coming on my wheel package I'm getting next week. Apparently they are real good summer tires.

how much
what are the price ranes for all these tires? also does adding a big brake kit increase weight? if so does that decrease torque to te wheels?

Or around 700 and up for a used one maybe even 4 piston. I just got an email from Brian at fastbrakes.com "The Wilwood 12.2 4piston" kit is $700 and will fit some 16" wheels with curved spoke designs. I don't have a good list of the exact wheels that fit...You can fit this kit in the 15" Pro Race 1 if I substitute a deeper rotor hat to move the assembly inward a bit...you'll have to space the caliper inward too, but I'll provide the spacers..." heres the other part It looks like the GT3 will limit you to the SpecR rotor upgrade due to the spoke design, although you might be able to fit the small 4 pot caliper under there. The SpecR uses the ITR calipers in the stock location and I haven't seen any aftermarket wheel that wouldn't clear them. That kit is $370 H-T price with the plain rotors, new calipers, Axxis Ultimate pads and braided steel front lines. Add $40 for slotted & drilled rotors. Shipping to Canada would be approx $50. thanks 700us--> 870 cnd |

and yes big brake will slow u down a little (hp & trq) or even big rims will slow u down (hp & trq). lol just watched this show on speed channel on brakes. |
chris, those look like the same rubbers tego got.
what wheels are you getting, i cant decided what i want on my car, and my car is pretty much the same as yours. im thinking black w/ machined lip 16" gt3s anyways GHT if you want the 'performance' stopping power without restricting your hp/tq from the added weight, why dont you just do an oem rear disc brake conversion, im pretty sure you have drums in the rear. |

A rear disc conversation will do next to nothing for your braking power. Rear discs are also more expensive to maintain. |

i notice a huge difference between all wheel disc brakes and front disc brakes.
With all wheel disc's there is no nose diving, and how gay would a big brake kit look with drums in the rear? |
my civic is the si model which ocmes with same size rear rotors as the gsr. my fronts are upgraded to gsr's but its not much difference sense its .5" difference from stock.
870???????? i got a quote from performance improvements and sky line speed tuninng for over 2250?? |
I agree with kwasley. Theres a guy at my school with Brembo big brakes on an EG with a 5 bolt conversion. This car has serious money into it and its got drums in the rear!!! ****ign gay. I don't care how much power this guy has. A Rear disc swap with a set of KVR cross drilled's and carbon pads would be more than enough stopping power for a pretty fast civic. Brembo big brakes are gay unless your packing 400+ hp. Just get a set of Cross drilleds. way more cost effective. My buddy had a set on his jetta and he got complimented all the time. His car wasnt' even that nice and the brakes were stock size. It was a stock Blue jetta with an Exhuast. Brakes really separate a car and its driver. 4 discs on a Civic shows that the guy means business. 17's and drums in the back mean you care about style only.
