Question why do my wheels rub?

i have a 95 civ hb with 15x6.5 rims wrapped in 195/55/15 rubber. i have lowered the car 1.75" with H&R springs and kyb GR2 struts. whenever i have 2 or 3 other people in my car and i go over a bump the wheels rub in the rear. Does anyone else have this problem? what can i do to fix it? i used to have 17" rims and they had the same problem. i thought buying smaller rims would be the solution but apparently it's not. any help would be great.

I experienced a similar problem on my eg hatch and I learned that the correct wheel offset is key to preventing rubbing, especially with bigger rims and lowered suspension.

try a smaller side wall 195/50/15 and try a better offset ... also because you have more wieght in your car (people) your going to have a lower drop take that into consideration as well...

also for the issue in the rear could be that the shocks/springs are not stiff enough get some real after market shocks...

I'd guess it the offset... your rim may have an offset higher than 45mm

i have 15 inch rims as well dropped 2.5 inches i dont rub and my rims are older so the offset sucks, i use 195/45/15 kumho rubber i need 2 more tho cause my other tires are pooched lol, the 205 50 15s that are on 2 of my rims rub front and rear the 195 45 dont rub either and im dropped 2.5 inches, the 205s rubbed in the rear at stock high. also i had 3 people, average size 58-6'0 i guess in my backseat and myself and a passenger up front driving to toronto from hamilton lowered and never had a problem rubbing, mind u wit the people in the back the rims tuck like crazy but it looks good

gr2's are crap, that's one of the problems. I'm sure with people in the car they bounce even more then normal.

I have the same setup with H&R sports and GR2's and the ride is perfect. Nothing wrong with that combination at all, its comfortable and the handling is amazing. No bouncing in my car at all. I have the top nuts of the shocks tightened down about an inch and a bit from where it was stock so that the shocks are still operating approximately in the same range of motion that they were designed for. I've taken rides in many lowered cars (H&R Cup kit, Eibach Sportline/Koni Red, H&R Race/Koni Yellow) and I haven't liked the ride of any of them more than my setup.

the gr2's DO suck, i'm not gonna lie. would it be okay if i had agx's (or any adjustable gas struts) in the rear only, and keep the gr2's in the front?

Changing shocks is not likely to fix the rubbing. The total travel of the suspension is determined by the spring. The damper just brings it back to normal at whatever rate it's capable of. If you want to get rid of the rubbing you will have to either roll your fenders, get stiffer springs, or put spacers in to lift your rear up.

bad offset on the rims that's all.
You really have no options except to get proper rims with correct offset 45.

What IS the offset of your rims? 195/55/15 is rather tall. You should look at 195/50.
