once my car comes back from the bodyshop ill be putting mine in, its approx 80lbs heavier than a b-series so if u get a cf hood, relocate ur battery to the back ur well on ur way lightning the front back up as well as upgrading ur suspension, theres way too many rumours about h22 in a civic being too heavy and cant steer worth pooh.... just do some research and ull see

my buddy recently did h22 swap on his 97 hatch, hes pretty serious about hittin hard turns, and he said that it felt different around the curves because of the way the engine is positioned, but nothing that would make him want a b16 again.

I was talking to a guy with an EK hatch at CSCS who had an H22 and i asked him how it handled and he said it didnt handle too great. I would suggest being ready to put money into a really nice suspension if your gonna do this swap.

i drove in a stock 5th gen hatch with an h22 and its not that bad... a little nose heavy but that was on stock suspension with 300 000+ kms on everything...

considering the power you get the slightly reduced handling shouldn't even be a concern...

u guys that have it done, did you ever have axle problems.

every shop i go to says 'it's not worth it too many problems'
and i really don't want to go somewhere for the swap when that's they're first answer.

the one i had driven was driven hard for i believe 2 years and not a single problem... the axles issues tend to stem from the mounts you use though

contact concept on wheels.... they do swaps and you can ask them for advices... probably do your suspension, get new axles if u'res too old.... get them to relocate your battery too... the best thing is, they allow finance (or it was leitner performance...) contact them both...

Ive done a couple. No problems in handling at all, its all a myth. However u do feel it in extreme cornering, but definantly not in daily driving conditions.

It handles pretty much normally for daily driving..

Yes under extreme cornering on my STOCK Suspension, I get understeer and the back end likes to slide out, but nothing unbelievable. Also another thing that makes it worse is the that I removed PS, cut the line and am still using a PS steering rack. If I had a non-PS rack it would be much better.

As for axles, it's better to buy axles from the same company that sells mounts (IF they have em and if u can afford them).. Usually you can go to the company's site to find out which axles fit perfectly. Generally you have to build your own axle with a combination of prelude and integra boots. Usually its only the passenger side axle that is needs works.

Mine is a 90 accord intermediate shaft, 90 integra shafts. Passenger shaft inner boot is grinded down about 1" to fit properly. Driven almost 25K(2 years now) without any problems.

regardless of how new or old your axles are... you can't use stock Civic axles on a H22A application, you have to buy axles from one of the many many manufactureres, or make your own from whatever parts you can muster up. But truth be told, since most of us don't have a lathe in our livingroom, it's cheaper and easier to just buy the axles from whoever made your mounts.

done myself with my bro..

PM me if you have any questions. I wish I knew what i know now when i was doing the swap before.. would have saved a lot of time.....

It a different kinda feel with this swap... Kinda like strapping a motor onto a bicycle! heheheh.. Just that monster-ish sound and feel... I love watching people's heads turn when i start it.. it's like WTF? that didn't sound like a civic..
