Who here has upgraded brakes?
Just wondering if anyone here has any upgraded brake's/kit??
on their ride? I am not talking about OEM parts like sir rear disc swap onto a dx or an integra swap into an eg. I am talking about big brake kits, upgraded rotors and brake pads, bigger calipers etc..... lets see what you guys have and what you think about it... right now I am in the process of purchasing rotora 6 piston calipers for my ek. any one know anything good about these? i know i wont need that much brake power but meh i can afford it so why not. spoon imo is a waste of money cuz from the looks of it its like an exact copy of the oem almost with different pads and rotors. anybody???? also recommendations for any other brands? prefrably japanese oriented not us like willwood or baer |

I'm also in the market for aftermarket brakes. I'm going to definately need it, when I'm done with my project.
If you guys could recommend any that will fit on 14" wheels as well? |
yah i already know about bruno's setup.
we talked about it on several occasions and i checked it out too. but it is a U.S. brand name which is why I turned it down |
Wilwood makes suprior brake calipers, used on some NASCAR teams. It does have its merits.
I am quite happy with my setup at this point. Brake upgrade won't happen anytime soon but should it does, 4 piston setup for me. Cause I want the biggest caliper that can fit under 15" wheel. |
Endless, Fastbrake, Rotora, Brembo, Wilwood, Spoon, pMu (i dont think they make civic/integra applications), OMNI has a kit now, StopTech...thats all I can think of.

We run this set-up on our company car. Let's put it this way it hurts if you slam on the brakes. The only disadvantage to consider when going to a big brake upgrade is that it limits your wheel choices. We have to run 18" wheels now.

I haven't had the need to upgrade my brakes to the extent of what some people listed in the post but I always upgrade my pads. I understand for ceratin cars those kits are necesary but for 90% of the cars that are daily drivers it can be considered overkill. Instead of like was said of upgrading to integra or SIR brakes I have kept my stock brake set-up, but in great condition.
I have always had great results with upgrading to an agressive pad, such as my favourite EBC. They double as a great pad on the street and can be used on the track. They do not require to warm up for daily driving, little fade, last for a decent period of time and they have great stoping power. Its the perfect solution for someone who wants better braking performance on a budget. BTW someting worth mentioning is your tires. Your braking is only as godd as your tires. There is nothing funnier than when someone is bragging about their big brake kit and their runnign on bald hockey pucks! |
I'm not bashing big brake kits but find them somewhat unecessary for peples set-ups. I just say to go with an option that will provide you with a LITTLE more than you need, not A LOT.

I had the AEM kit on a previous car of mine. Worked like a charm, and looked really good too. But I don't see the price tag of $1500+ worth it. |

big brake kits are so expensive. i'm on integra discs all around with a 98+ bb and mc with hawk hp+ all around. my car stops on a DIME and i'm scared of the brakes once they're fully warmed up. even when cold i lock up my brakes with minimal effort. why do you want to buy a kit? upgrading the mc and bb with some nice aggressive pads is more than enough. i think endless has a big brake kit.

What about one of the kits from Fast Brakes?

Friend of mine did that conversion on a 91 CRX Si using USDM 91 Civic EX Sedan front spindles. With the proper pads and a 15/16" Prelude M/C upgrade the brakes on his car were more than up to the task of "spirited" driving. BTW this setup completely fills a 16" rim, so if you have a set of aftermarket 16" rims they may not clear the calipers.

seems like you've made up your mind, most ppl here have US stuff anyways...
i have baer rotors with KVR pads, and i love them, big difference over what i had stock and not too crazily expensive.... all depends on what you're going for and how much money you have lol... whatever you decide i'm sure it's gonna look sweet and perform nice... i can't wait to see it! lol |
you could do powerslot plus rotors, stock calipers and some nice pads.. but I have a feeling you want to go all out with this :wink:
