When I asked, "How where they?", I was referring to the place where you got the engine, not the car. But I am touched by your concern for the organ donar...

Well it all depends on what motor your planning to purchase. You can get japan motors directly shipped from a supplier up there or go to any Japan engine warehouse which there are many in the GTA. If your looking for a zc, b16a or such they say theres 50 K, my ***** to that, they're usually 12-15 year old aready and I don't think I would ever buy such an old motor again from them. My next motor is coming from the states with 40 K on it and it's from a write off vehicle. A motor like this I can trust. I know many people that have purchased motors from these Jap guys and they end up blown in less than a month but I had my zc for over a year and it's still running great except that it sounds like a diesel right now, gotta do a valve adjustmet when I receive specs for it.

Again like I said, your taking a chance with such an old motor from a jap place, you may get a good one or a bad one and mine only came with a 10 day warranty which is ****.

Here's the address for the place I got mine from and you can pick and choose from a variety of motor.

hey blue si
i just got a d16 zc in my 89 si also
did you find a problem with an exhaust leak by the block
my old exhaust header( not stock ) i reused from my si engine
but i am getting exhaust escaping from the edges
my guy says that the block is different and maybe a paper type gasket would seal better
any ideas?

Hey Sk, I haven't had any problem with my exhaust manifold on my motor. Did you try to reinstall your old manifold to determine if the header is the cause? If not put the old one back in and if it still smokes then it needs a new gasket. I do not recommend a paper gasket for the exhaust manifold b/c those gaskets are not capable of all the heat the manifold extracts. Paper gaskets are usually good to use on the intake manifold, throttle body, etc things that draw less heat and the exhaust is not one of them. So I would just get a stock or composite gasket.

BJT, I was joking... I don't have a swap, but I've driven a 92 CX with a B18B, and a 96 CX with a B18C... highly recommended swaps.

As for where... you come across them on various boards, local clubs, junkjards, engine importers... there are many many places for them to be had.

The headers for the Si are off about 3mm on the ZC. It is usable but you will have to use two gaskets....one made for the ZC and the other made for the Si.
The proper way is to port it 3mm to the right(don't quote me on that). I believe Brett from Parkway did the port and the header works great.
I think that was your question answered?
Hope so....if not ...sorry

Yes you are correct because I believe the ZC has a 4-2 port design opposed to the Si which has a 4-1 port design meaning the si's ports will not line up properly. Too many people told me that it bolts right up without any problems b/c it's considered a d series motor but then on the other hand a few people also told me that it requires porting. Im not 100% sure about it b/c I personally haven't performed this on my motor but im pretty sure the above info is correct and this is the reason why your exhaust manifold has smoke slipping out of the ports which aren't matched properly.

yah the design is different
as it is as you mentioned on the header a 4-2-1 than teh old 4-1 colletor on the upper
it is also a larger diameter pipe as well
i am going to try porting it
thanks
