when to change the clutch
hey guys, I was wondering if someone can tell me when I need to change my clutch or when it's worn out. what are some signs I should look for which indicates that I need a new clutch?
thanks |
slippage, which means that the rpms climb after releasing the clutch but the car doesnt go anywhere

When releasing the clutch you could hear a squeeling sound, almost as though you are doing a wussy burn out, but not really doing it.

normally youll notice a few things,
-clutch releases, assuming its a stock clutch, a lot lower to the floor board than usual -slippage, as stated above, when you accelerate and the revs/rpms go up but the car does not accelerate properly. -noises are hard to pick out usually its too late to hear poping or grinding (normally because of broken teeth on the pressure plate) |
I decided to replace mine based on mileage (185,000km), sound (sounded like i was chirping the tires first through fourth) and feel (clutch felt weak, and was not gripping consistant. one time it was fine, next it would not grab - slipping)
I replaced it with an Exedy OE clutch and huge improvement, i'm very happy i had it replaced. was done by Scott Newman |
