Whats Your Octane?

Couple Questions:

Make of Car:
Octane of Fuel:
Do you notice a difference:
Is it worth the money:

For me,

99 Civic Si
Regular 87 Octane

Never tried anything else.
Dont have the extra money to waste on it either.

91 octane.
I don't know if theres a difference, I've only used 91 with this motor. With a full tank of gas I guess pretty good mileage tho, 530km's off a full tank. and a full tank of premium is usually 40 bucks for me.

Today, pull up to the 7-11 gas station, "SORRY, WE'RE OUT OF REGULAR''......... meaning........... yess... Premium for the price of regular. 35 bucks to fill it up I was tryna squeeze in as much as I cud. xmas doesn't usually come around more than once even tho this has happened to me twice and its great everytime it does

Jay P 11-Aug-2006 08:11 AM

honda recommends using 87 octane , + why would i pay more for gas when i dont have to lol

Xscorpio 11-Aug-2006 08:13 AM

every one uses 95 here, and 97 high

imported_Bruce Fee 11-Aug-2006 08:16 AM

czeto 11-Aug-2006 08:53 AM

SiR-Diesel.

imported_JoonyaSI 11-Aug-2006 08:59 AM

my car has this new sick engine that allows a mild mix of pisss and water combined to create a new Fuel ...

imported_BlazeInEk 11-Aug-2006 09:13 AM

99 SiR...supposed to use premium, so that's what I use. Costs more but whatever...wanna play, gotta pay!

imported_SilverSleeper 11-Aug-2006 09:16 AM

2000 Civic SE - 87 octane.

electronblue 11-Aug-2006 09:20 AM

Make of Car: 2001 Honda Prelude
Octane of Fuel: 94
Do you notice a difference: yes
Is it worth the money: yes

Prelude is premium only anyway. Only issue I have with 94 is that I burn it 25 km faster than 92.

imported_viper_2_4 11-Aug-2006 09:30 AM

Make of Car: 89 Hatch
Octane of Fuel: 87 octane
Do you notice a difference: no, I don't waste my money on what my car doesn't need, it doesn't have the compression to justify higher octane, thus it wouldn'd do anything (and why its not recomended)
Is it worth the money: I guess

that "do you notice a difference" question is stupid, it should be "I dynoed my car and there was a recordable difference"...that would be impressive, I'd be willing to bet that a lot of people who put in higher octane because they think they will get better performance will just say it will so they don't look stupid...

cibs 11-Aug-2006 09:49 AM

Make of Car: 2006 TSX
Octaine of Fuel: 91 octane
Do you notice a difference: 91 octane is where it's at, 94 octane results in decreased performance and decreased fuel efficiency...

if u have a stock civic from what i remember using higher octane gives you less performance and less fuel efficiency...

why bother? it's like throwing money down the drain...

Brett 11-Aug-2006 10:44 AM

Make of Car: 91 civic
Octaine of Fuel: 91 octane
Do you notice a difference: my B series is supposed to have 91 so it gets it!

MitchG 11-Aug-2006 11:44 AM

cheap stuff, 87, in my stock ef.

imported_Lonely Racer 11-Aug-2006 11:48 AM

Make of Car:97 civic hb
Octane of Fuel:94
Do you notice a difference:run's better
Is it worth the money: i donno?
