B16A = JDM 2nd gen
B16A2/B16A3 = USDM (civic SIR/del sol VTEC) B16A1 = JDM 1st gen B16s are stout little engines that make 100hp/L. And with the right combination of parts/headwork can make 200whp. Unfortunately since its only a 1.6L its notoriously torqueless, which translates into having to keep the rpms rather high for it to be making any sort of substantial power. Which is alright since it has a 77mm stroke and 81mm bore. So its very high rpm stable. B16s in stock form run out of breath at 7600rpms but with a few mods its not uncommon for these engines to make power up to 9000+ rpms. Drop the compression a little and add boost b16s can put out very impressive numbers both whp and torque. Even on stock internals they're capable of over 250whp. |
