Not illegal...the car just has to pass the emission regulations for the year it was built which in his case is 1998.

I'm not sure if the OBD1 motor will pass the 1998 emissions, I'd hate to put a motor in the car only to find out it didn't pass emissions.

i think its the displacement that matters? 1.5 or 1.6
and when it comes to emission, there might be a small issue, but in terms of legal or not... i think its as long as you report the displacement has been changed to the ministry =)

and by the way, i heard the dohc zc are great for turbo =)

Dohc ZC is 140 HP !!!!! use the D16y8 Intake manifold as its better than the stock ZC, and has all necesary sensors for newer OBD standards like 3 bar map . . . !!!!! THEY are both 1.6 litre !!!!!!!!!!!, and use the d16y8 exaust manifold as it is EXACTLY the same as a ZC manifold except due to OBD standards of newer years it has better O2 sensor (s) !!!!!!!

holy ****

if you dont plan on sellin it like that im sure you can do it .... just i wouldnt waste my time with that i'd rather do a b16a swap for the price of a ZC swap cuz it aint much more!
