What Kinda Crazy Tranny Do I Have? 230km In 3rd Gear Whats With That!?!?
If anyone could help me out here that would be cool, I bought a new si motor in sept for my civic the tranny came off a different motor but its still a 92-95 civic SI tranny SOHC all that but for some reason I have crazy long gears and its all bone stock!
Heres The Ratios:
1st Gear: 80km/h
2nd Gear: 143km/h
3rd Gear: 230+km/h I Have Never maxed out 3rd gear in RPMS becuase my car doesnt have the power to do it, but i can imagine if i maxed out 4th and 5th id be doing like over 300km.h
Does ne one know whats with this tranny?!?!?!

how did you test this? what is the red line on your current engine?

You sure your gauge just isnt messed up? I mean come on...STOCK d16z6 tranny maxes out 3rd gear around 140km.

2nd is good for about 85km/h
3rd is good for about 140km/h
4th is somewhere around 195ishkm/h
5th is useless as a stock engine doesn't have enough power to pull beyond what the top end of 4th gear can.
BTW this was not done anywhere on the street, track only.

If his speedo is messed up, that wouldn't explain why his car won't max out in third gear.

All great points guys but this is with stock tires 185/65/r14 and the speeds ive said are all the the fuel cut off which iis 7900rpm and thats not a big difference from the redline of 7200 it only squeezes out an extra 5 or 10km.h, and i know the cluster isnt messed up becuase when i get on the hwy and im in 2nd gear passing people on the on ramp whithout shifting i know im flying, also ive though of that and i drove beside a stock suv and the speeds are all the same, i swear its some sort of crazy japanese tranny i saw the motor it came off of it was a SOHC SI motor from Big Japanese motors, also i know the reg gears and what they should be cuz ive had 2 stock si trannys before that were the ratios up top there...I guess itll just remain a mystery! lol at least its wicked good on gas my car is bone stock now except for a intake and exhaust so nothing modified has done anything to it

oh and by the way 3rd gear at 230km/h is only at 6900rpm so thats almost a 1000rpm to go in that gear if u max it out which i just done have the power to do

why not read the code off the tranny?
and an SI motor hitting 230Km/Hr? hahah maybe after a few minutes..

ya about that point of 230 taking a while to get up to yeah it took forever on a huge friggen hill but ive done it only once when i just put the motor in, but any day of the week i can hit 200 easy in 3rd! too bad theres no one thats heard of it before no one ever believes me till i take em for a spin! lol but meh thats their problem i guess, it sounds pretty insaine to me too!
