i have a stock 98 si engine.. d16y8 and i am looking to build the engine up this summer then later turbo it for a winter project.. i know i have to replace the headers with the turbo manifold if i decide to turbo but thats okay.. i want to know what kind of headers should i get.. i alrady have a aem v2 cai.. magnaflow catback system.. i was thinking dc 4-2-1 headers? i dont really know what brand puts out the best headers.. if i could get sum feedback that would be great

in my opinion DC are crap. I had a DC 4-1 ceramic 1 peice. The ceramic coating turned to rust in about 6 months. I am now using a vibrant 4-2-1 stainless steel w/2.5" collector (its a copy of the JUN header) and i much prefer it over the DC.
I'd say in stead of spending the money on a header, only to be replaced with a turbo manifold, spend it on some forged internals, or hondata. Don't waste your money for such minimal gains.

Then why not buy a decent suspension set-up. You'll notice it alot more then the few horsepower you might get from some exhaust mods.

How about a good tune up. Maintenance should always come first. Get your engine running nice and smooth and you'll notice the power mods more.

Good Call with the tune-up. I would say that there isn't much of a point buying and expensive header for your engine. The power gains will be minimal no matter what you go with. Having said that, I would try some Hedman Chikara's, or Lightspeed (i think that's what they are)...Try Performance Improvements, they have cheaper headers.

Get a pulley Kit. It can still be used with the Turbo down the road. And will give decent gains and it won't break the bank.

A pulley kit doesn't gain anything. They might free up some lost horsepower, but they don't "add" it. You could spend alot of money on a throttle body, pulleys, cam and internal work and you might only see a small increase of power. Save for a swap then mod that. Build N/A motors are very expensive.

Well I'm no turbo expert, but I think the amount of money you could spend building then turboing a D-series would be better spend doing an easy B18/B16.

i already decided to make a d-turbo.. yes i would get more performacne out of a b-series but im just not willing to spend all that money on a swap then turbo.. also my d16 has 120 orginal km.. runs perfect and the tranny has no grinds.. so it would be a waste to throw out the engine.

get some p29 pistons and headwork with a lumpy cam...

or just do a swap which will be more reliable and probably cheaper then doing a turbo set up

If you're gonna boost it, don't bother spending money on a header 'cause it's gonna get replaced by a turbo manifold;

Plus you'll never get back the money you bought the header for.

Put the money towards engine manigment for when you BOOST it!!!

...OBD 1 conversion harness; P28 + Hondata, Uberdata etc etc etc
