i just bought a 93 civic cx, and the last owner told me the engine was a low mileage japanese import, but i dont know which engine exactly, it looks nearlyidentical to the non v-tec si except the valve cover and oil cap , so what is it a sohc zc?.......any positive input would be great...thanks

Did you look at the engine code on the engine block?

yea look at the engine code, should be on the left side of the engine on the block.

if you can't find the code it's because theres oil and all that other bullsihit ontop of it, get a rag and clean it off it's just under the cap on the left side

it will just say ZC, it could be a sohc vtec zc which is pretty much a d16z6 or a sohc non vtec which isnt anything spectacular..

it says underneath the distrubutor cap right ?, i was looking underneath the starter and i couldnt find it, i'll look again tomorro.... thanks again

well is it dohc or sohc?
If dohc then its a dohc zc, if sohc then its sohc zc but if it has a vtec solenoid (where's that picture keiran had with the funny looking finger?) then its a sohc zc vtec....oh....oh....i found it.

This is what a vtec solenoid looks like and it will be located on the cylinder head on the firewall side of the distributor on the sohc.

That finger kills me...lol

ZC engine are a nice/cheap upgrade from stock. 96HP VS 128hp in the zc.
