What Intake

what do u guys thing about bolting on a cone intake straight to the intake headers wthout any pipe?

would this make more power or to much heat will be coming from the engine?

Younes Si 20-Apr-2005 03:47 PM

it's not going to make a difference.....remember what that big post was about if short ram intake of cold air intakes did? just make s h i t louder, and wont matter if you have a pipe or not, my buddy doesin't have a pipe and I do....

just whatever you like, i woudl keep the pipe, looks a lot better

ROCKET VTEC 20-Apr-2005 03:58 PM

thnx

u think the Vtec and the engine will be louder with no pipe on? just the filter

spracingsports 20-Apr-2005 03:59 PM

just put a K&N universal conical filter on your stock intake piping...

with or without, it will be louder because you took out the stock

what about the sensor on the intake pipe, is that nessesary? cause if i just bolt on a filter to the intake manifold the sonsor will not be hooked up? i think even on cai and ram intakes they dont connect it do they?

imported_GoldBadge 21-Apr-2005 08:31 AM

They connect it on short rams.

spracing, if he has a Y7 then the filter is atop the throttle body, so you wouldn't be able to fix a cone to the end, unless you want double filtration.

spracingsports 21-Apr-2005 11:18 AM

oh realy??? lame.... swap the intake manifold over to a d16Y8

imported_GoldBadge 21-Apr-2005 11:23 AM

I would probably screw something up. The only thing it ouwld be good for is better aftermarket intake options, but intakes just make noise. So, I'll most likely just stick with my stock aibox for now.

technically you want a pipe to make the flow more laminar and less turbulent. how much power difference that makes on a civic, i dont know, but theoretically pipe is better than no pipe, and the pipe should be at least 3x as long as the diameter to make the flow laminar

ROCKET VTEC 21-Apr-2005 02:44 PM

ok i see but if i make my own intake, im not gona be able to connect the sensors as i asked before are those sensors relly nesesary and that is their function?

your car will run without the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor in the actual intake, but your fuel mixture may be off and your car may not run as efficient as it should. the valve cover vent tube is connected to the intake for emission reasons, you may get a ticket if it is found not routed back into the intake manifold.

ROCKET VTEC 21-Apr-2005 05:08 PM

crap so i can just drill a hole in the pipe then and atach the sosor there , im making a pipe frome Home Depost ABS plastic :)

imported_Joker 21-Apr-2005 05:17 PM

who cares ...........if u wanna be loud take off your muffler and ur intake complelet, pollute the air get pulled over and then ride the ttc with a megaphone

ROCKET VTEC 21-Apr-2005 08:11 PM
