1999 Milano Red Civic SiR Coupe
1.5" drop with H&R springs.

My front inside tires are wearing down. I was told to just do an alignment. But I think it is a camber problem. I was thinking of just getting a camber kit for the front since my back is okay. Any inputs??

Are the tires wearing only in one spot around the whole tire?
When was the last Alignment? before or after you put the summer tires on?
A 1.5 drop is not huge and I am not sure a camber kit is needed as I have seen many drop it the same height and they are fine. It does seem to point to a 4 wheel alignment....but I am sure the camber kit would n't hurt either.

A rule of thumb I was given was to get an alignment everytime I switched my summer and winter tires......which I did. Don't know if it's true but anyways

I never did an alignment on it. I don't want to get an alignment and then find out it doesn't help and get a camber kit and then do alignment again. But then again, maybe just an alignment would help correct the problem.

My inside front tire wear is wearing out faster then my outside front tires. I am thinking the offset of my tires are like this // \\.

kinda strange that you've dropped 1.5" and you have such a serious problem with the uneven tire wear.

Anyways, you're right about the camber but you really should get an alignment because the alignment guys can also tell you if you really need a camber kit as well. It maybe spending more cash, but at least it's a helluva lot cheaper than spending like $300+ on a camber kit

Just do the alignment, it's cheaper than a camber kit and it'll tell if you really need one. Or maybe you're just driving too hard hehehe HTH a little at least

Another point is you'll probably be looking at new tires. If the wear is that screwed you'll never get a proper ride eveb after the alignment....sorry to drop the news spend alot of $$$ sucks when it isn't for mods...

I agree, you should definitely get an alignment done first. If it doesnt help then at least you'll know how much negative camber you have. It's interesting that you have so much tire wear already with a 1.5" drop because my car is about that low and i dont have any problems with uneven tire wear.

Hmm..I don't know how soft the Kumho's are, but that can attribute to your abnormal tire wear Just my thoughts cuz I'm using some Dunlop W-10's and the wear isn't as bad yours (from what you said)

alignment will do nothing with the camber. Not sure about your civic but EG have no camber adjustment so if you drop it your tires will wear on the inside only way to fix this is to raise the car back to stock ride height or get yourself a good camber kit. Progressive and Ingalls both make good kits. I think the ingalls is better.

To get back on the original question, Ingalls are good for their price but skunk2 are the sh#tz (if you got the $$).

always do an alighnment after any suspention mods.
when you drop your car, your toe will be off and that will eat up your tires faster then negative camber.
you can't really tell what is off just by looking at it.
do an alighnment first then go from there to see if u need camber kit or not..saves you tires and money if you dont' need a camber kit.
i have a 1.5 drop and my negative camber is just off by .5
so no need for camber kit but then again mine is 5th gen.

The Skunks are very nice. Similar design to the Ingalls (slider on upper control arm), but use a tube design instead of stamped steel. I'd recommend getting the +1.75 - +3.00 kit.

Before you do the camber kit, make sure that all the balljoints and tie-rod ends are in good condition. No alignment shop will work on your car if your suspension is out of wack.
Try to stay away from aftermarket balljoints because they can possibly damage the shock tower. Unfortunately, most Honda OEM balljoints come with the upper control arm (which you don't need if your doing the camber kit).
