what engine in a 1992 ex sedan?
Hi there, i'm looking for a civic of some sort for fun/economical reasons...i like to the hatchback bosy style...but a sedan is slighly more useful...
anyways, anyone know what engine is in a 1992 ex sedan? and what about swaps in the near future? many options? |
If I'm not mistaken it's the d15b7 nonvtec engine (i may be wrong)
Anyways.. there are a tonof swaps available for your vehicle, it just depends how much money you are willing to spend |
It is the D15b7, atleast my last 93 EX did.
|
i test drove the car today, it's a 5spd, and i'm VERY impressed...where are the actual engine codes on the engine itself?
And for a swap do i have to stick with a D series engine? |
anyone?
|
the engine code is on the front of the engine, right where it connects to the tranny, its probably covered in oil or gunk.
You can swap any d-series, b-series, h-series or even k-series. It all depends on how much money your willing to spend. |
in 1992 they had a 4 dr eg that was a EX-V....i member my dad buying one brand new. I beleive dat had vtec!!
|
yea you are right, i have seen some of them, they have special paint colors and pin striping on the side i believe and a moon roof.
|
hey there, so i'm still trying to figure this out...lol. And it's not helping that there has been an engine swap done at some point...?
so is the engine tag viewable fromt he top of the engine? or do i have to crawl under? |
Step 1
Open the hood Step 2 Look at the engine block passenger side where it bolts to the transaxle. It should be in about the middle Step 3 Find a 3 inch ish flat spot and clean the grim off |
lol - it's that damn 3rd step...i'll have another look. thanks.

Maybe this will help. Shows the location and lists the specs of all Honda/Acura motors.

if its just an ex, then it comes with a d15b7
d15b7 = OBD1 1.5L SOHC Inline-4 (Non-Vtec) MPFI |
would you believe i've had this car for like 3 weeks, i love it but i still don't know which engine it has in it. I know the engine has been replaced...and i have yet to find the 'flat spot' and clean it off...lol
