What ecu to use?

b18c5 in a crx currently using a b16(pr3) ecu. Could i, and should i, run a different ecu? how about a gsr or type r? Since i dont know a lot about the whole obd 0 and 1 which ecu would be best for the motor yet still work in the crx? thanks

your stuck with that pr3 unless you get a harness conversion from obdo to obd1 and use a chipped p28 or get a hondata.

a p28 is from a civic correct? i think it would prob be better to keep the pr3.
What about converting to obd1 and getting a p61(gsr)? would that be better?
-does anyone know it would be worth it? i mean would i gain a lot more by going obd1?

p28 can be modified to provide the engine with a B18C5 map. get a conversion harness....

why don't you just chip your pr3? No need for a conversion harness just find someone that uses crome.

yup, that's your best option. the GSR ECU i have is a P72, and the big difference is that the ecu is set to open up the secondary intake runners at 4400rpm (a feature that the B16 and the C5 don't have).

you might want to consider getting an engine management device of some sort as well (ie: hondata).

so if i get a conversion harness then it will not matter if i run a p28 or p30 as long as it has the b18c5 map correct? anyone have any info on how to put the b18c5 map into a p28 or p30, never done it before. Considered getting hondata before, but i might just stick with the modified p28 for now .....

i use a pr3 on my 2.0 just got it dyno'd and rechipped

P28 is the ulimate universal ECU..

imported_eth0r 01-Aug-2005 01:04 AM

either u switch over to obd1, for that u need a conversion harness, p28 ecu, and a dizzy i think?.. or chip the ecu u have now. if u plan on doing alot of tuning later on go with the obd1 p28 conversion, if not just get ur ecu chipped

wildercard 01-Aug-2005 02:07 PM

right now i would settle for just having the b18c5 map, but if i just chip my pr3 can i change the settings later on or is that going to be difficult, i hear obd0 is much more difficult to work with then obd1. but if its not that bad i would rather stick with it then having to buy the harness another ecu and the dist.
