What do you think about these tires?

Hey everyone

I am planning to a new set of summer tires. What is your opinion on yokohama avid T4? by the way my rim size is 13"...looking for 185/70/13 or 175/7013.

thanks

Nate

get bigger tires/rims is my opinion

imported_soso 23-Jan-2005 12:24 PM

why should he get bigger rims? maybe he wants small light wheels. Don't give useless opinions, try to make posts that are worth reading.

Anyways, I looked up tirerack.com and found some reviews for you. They seem like excellent tires from what I've read, and these reviews are all real, not fake testimonials at all.

thanks for your search

the reason I am using 13" is that, they are vx rims....very light 8lbs... not the greatest looking rims though

Beyaz 23-Jan-2005 12:33 PM

nahh all do whatever the hell i want to....
thanks anyway

imported_Nate9 23-Jan-2005 12:36 PM

yeah....if I have more money I will get a nicer set of bigger rims...15" would be nice for my ef

Beyaz 23-Jan-2005 12:37 PM

i'm just saying that because you will get more traction yadda yadda

imported_Nate9 23-Jan-2005 12:42 PM

what are you guys using now?

Beyaz 23-Jan-2005 12:45 PM

when i get a car........ 15 lOL.... i belive perfect balance 17 very good for traction/cornering.. 13inch for taking off... so 15 is balanced

How do you figure? The diameter of the rim has nothing to do with the amount of traction the tires will provide. The size of the contact patch is what is important. Wider is generally better.

Personally I have 15's. Most 17's are way to heavy and ride like crap. 16's offer a good balance of looks, weight and handling. 13" tires are cheap too.

i have 15's as well....Dumbassi's old SIR's in fact. I used to have 17's, which look great on a civic, are too big and heavy in my opinion. Since the tire profile is so small i had to balance them every 3 months from all of the crappy roads here in hamilton.
I use 205/50/15. Since you would be using 185/70/13 i would suggest gettin a tire with a very stiff sidewall b/c the side wall will be rather large with your tire selection. A stiffer side wall will give you better handling through the corners. The downside of a stiffer sidewall is harder ride.
Yokohama Avid T4 is a very good tire, and was among one of the few i was considering, along with Falken Azenis and Dunlop Sports.

yes it does!, the bigger your rim the bigger your Tire will have to be!

You know what i'm trying to say!

OH ya FYI, some cool stuff, well your driving the friction from the tire and the road, cause it to get hot enough that it bends the road under neath it a bit

Beyaz 23-Jan-2005 02:20 PM

i heard that hankook are good too

Nope!

The overall diameter of the tire remains the same if you use the correct size. 205/50/15 is the virtually the same size as a 205/40/17. The rim is bigger and the sidewall is shorter, but the tire is the same size around.

Understandable thank you for correcting me without being an ass :)
