LOL one is made up of automatic tranny fluid, and the other is made up of manual tranny fluid

Aaron, ATF is hydraulic in nature, it's meant to open valves, solenoids, and so on, it's a hydraulic oil, NOT a lubricating one (though it does that as well), whereas MTF is gear oil - it's a lubricating oil. I haven't a clue as to why Honda is the only company to use 10W30 - like weight in the gearbox

Now, if you have LSD, you need friction modifiers to allow the LSD to work (depending on the type of lsd).

Finally, I use ATF fluid in my Saturn manual tranny - but that's a Saturn specific thing.

why the question on ATF then??? I mean GM Synchromesh is a MTF fluid as far as I remember. Anyways, yeah... you can use it. Thing is, guys buy MTF for an LSD tranny???? You show me a USDM Civic that came with an LSD from the dealer? Honda MTF is for normal stock trannies, LSDs need the friction modded stuff. Try the GM Synchromesh, I see absolutely no harm in doing so. In fact I may try it in my Prelude as well cuz right now my reverse has a slight scratch. BTW, some GMs use pretty sophisticated trannies that they sourced out, like the Gertrag Z24 tranny...

NO, no LSD AUTO cars in the states or Canada. Wait, you have an auto LSD??? That's just strange I don't even know how an auto LSD would work - do you have separate fluids for the differential and the tranny or do they both use the same fluid?

I think part of it also has to do with a factory TCS being offered on some japanese vehicles...

Is the TCS through braking or drivetrain? Anyways, you COULD try ATF with friction modifier, but when I used it it was on a RWD domestic with a LSD rear diff, so it used gear oil with a friction modifier.... that's why I asked if you had separate transaxle fluid. I honestly can't help you...

manny tranny needs new fluid every 48,000 kms; it's regular maintenance , auto tranny every 36,000 kms I think cuz they have a filter to worry about too.

if yoru car is manual then get teh gm synchromesh....most of the dsm guy's use that **** in their tranies adn difs and xfer cases...their trannies are notorious for rough shifting (1g mostly) adn it seems to smooth them out you can try pennsoil synchrosift I think its' called....same kinda stuff

Ok I did some research..

TCS was available only on the b-series motors..

ABS and the LSD were the options on the VTI

Good jdm motor and option info here..

Use babelfish...
