hi my motor was running kinda funny but it was running


i pulled out #1 sparkplug wire whilst the car was running 2 see if i was loosing a syliner thats why it was running kinda funny so i pulled it out the engin slowed down like it would then i go 2 put it back in it arcs across onto the valve cover and sparks 3 times then the motor dyed


i have reset the ecu i have no engin light and the car wilnot start the fuel pump is good and everything else i dont have any spark i opened up the dizzy and it was kinda dirty and the little piece of flat white plastik stuff with the metal in the center that goes around was arked aswell kinda black in 1 spot not the car wilnot start because i have noooooooo spark what did i do and how can i test your ideas thanks guys

its a 97 ex with d16y5 motor

hahahhahahah i feel like *** laughing but on a more serious note you really could have hurt yourself if that arc'ed on you. Try with a new cap and rotor and see how it goes, hopefully you didnt fawk anything else up

why not stop the engine while you put your spark plugs in and out?

try a new cap and rotor, hopefully your coil is ok

There may be a very slight chance you could have damged the coil by pulling out wire while it was running. The coil has to work harder to cross a large gap. Slim chance though.

NO spark means there may be something w/the ignition system and some investigation for you to do.

Or try a new cap/rotor as ERTW suggested.

It wont hurt you, its just a quick little zap, it low amperage so not enough to cause any real harm.

Rotor and Cap run pretty cheap, even from the dealer. You wouldn't want a used cap and rotor man, its like wanting to buy a used oil filter (You just don't do that)

probably fried your main relay. it's a grey relay behind your glove box held on with one bolt to the side. pretty common actually and most honda's of similar gen (96-98) will use the exact same main relay. just try swaping out with a known working one from a friend or something. they run about $50 at the dealer.

i think if i fry the relay the fuel pump would not be working everything else is working i just dont get spark i sent my dizzy away last night 2 be tested and il let u guys know whats going on thanks 4 all your input it is very much apriciated and u guys all help me out alot but the time i get rid ov this car i have had sooooo many problems i mabie wil be able 2 help u guys out 1 day hehe

naa i checked every fuse in the car 1 buy one i dont have a fuse pannel doar thing that tells u what the fuses do so i had 2 if anybody had a diagram or somethin that wil tell me what they are that would be great
