What damage could I have done?

for those not familar, a few weeks ago I hit my oil pan, lost all my oil around Miss Rd and Derry. My house was close by Derry and Winston Curchill, about 5-6 min.

When i got in my driveway engine was making a slight diff noise but nothing obnoxious. I finally fixed my pan and put oil back in and started it, runs fine, no probs that I can tell but what kinda damage could be done?

also: engine temp never went up when oil was lost.

its probably fine...One of my good friends owns a cavalier, and he took his car to mr lube for an oil change, the idiots forgot to refill the engine with oil, not being a car person himslef he drove the car for over 100kms before realizing there was no oil... cars been fine, that was almost 2 years ago...

there is a chance that the cylender walls got scorched...theres nothing you can do to fix/ or findout whatever/ or if anything happened without tareing down the block anyway, so i would say not to think about it

In the winter time, your engine starts bone dry and runs like that for about 30 seconds to 2 minutes depending on temp and viscosity. I'd say... not TOO much damage since there was already some oil in there already residually. Only thing is oil press keeps the crank on a film of oil, so not having that prolly wan't good, but again... prolly nothing to be too concerned about, PLUS there is nothing you can do about it now.

thanks bruno.

if there was some damage done do you think it would be visible from driving the car and the way the engine runs etc?

You'll never notice the diff driving. The diff may come 100,000 kms from now when it starts to burn oil or your bearings fail and your crank starts to wanna come out of the block No immediate damage...
