What AC compressor do I need?

Hi there,

I did a quick search but couldn't find what I was looking for. My AC compressor bit the dust today, its seized pretty good. I don't think they're worth repairing are they?

Anyways, I was wondering what other models are compatible with mine so I can keep an eye out for one. I got a 2000 Civic SE. Base model, non VTEC engine.

And if you got one that'll work, then please let me know.

Thanks.

From the same model, SiR, other B series engines would fit.

To confirm, call Honda (any one), and ask for your trim level compressor, SiR compressor, 98-01 CRV compressor and see if the part number match.

Thanks Nova. I'll do a little looking using the PN #.

Any idea what this is gonna cost to replace? Aside from the cost of the compressor. How much do shops charge to capture and re-fill the R12 or whatever the refrigerant is? I've never worked with AC so I'm clueless.

Thanks

I think the compressor is gonna be like 400 plus around 200 for labor and recharge.

You can try to find a rebuilt one, or an aftermarket parts on Ebay, should the cost of it is too high.

AC compressor isn't hard to remove, but not every shop has the ability to charge/discharge freon, but that in itself shouldn't be overly expensive.
