I have a 98 1.6EL motor in my 92 civic thowing code 14 which is IACV. I notice when putting the motor in the IACV was a three wire hook up but I only had the two wires from my 92IACV what wires go where and what do I do with the third one.

Anyone no what to do

can't do **** son. you got an automatic EL engine, which comes with the 3 wire IACV.

the only fix you can do is to swap on your original intake manifold, or to score a manual Y8 or a Z6 manifold with the rear mounted 2 wire IACV which your ECU uses.

if you're feeling brave, you could also attempt to hamfist the IACV onto the auto intake manifold by drilling holes but... if you can't figure out the wiring, I doubt you could pull that off without ruining your manifold.

Like BB said, you will need a manual Intake manifold, BUT you will also need to re-pin the ecu. If you can't find the re-pinning info online, feel free to pm me, I have it somewhere in my gaggle**** of files. It's very easy to do, so don't worry.

its not possible to just use a 2 wire IACV with the same bolt pattern on his engine?

I've never found myself in this situation, so i don't know what auto IACV's are like, this is why i ask.

Well, on the automatics the IACV is integrated with the Throttle Body, as opposed to the Manual, which has it on the manifold. They are two different designs.

The 2 wire IACV is a 2 stage IACV, and it only has two positions.: Open, Close. Meanwhile, the 3 wire IACV is a 3 stage, meaning it has: Open, Close, Half/Half.

When you replace the Auto manifold with a Manual manifold you will have the proper placement for the IACV. You will still have 3 wires on your harness though, so one of them needs to be un-attached. The orange one I believe.

Then you need to go to your ECU, and repin the orange wire to an inactive pin so that the ecu doesn't throw a code, and so it doesn't search for the third action (half/half).
