Weird Idle when..

When my car first warms up each day, If i start driving it right away my rpms stay around 1500-2000 untill it warms up, then it idles around 1000 for awhile.

There is also this hiss sound from under my engine bay and i was told from awhile back its a purge system in my car that has to do with emissions testing etc.

Well thats fine, but as soon as that hiss stops my idle drops to 500 and sounds like its gonna stall then goes back up to 800 and idles normal for the rest of the duration now that its warmed up and that purge system is done.

Is there a way to stop the idle from bouncing like tha when that purge thing is done? It freaks me out each time I think my engine is gonna stall, do things need to be cleaned in the TB?

its normal for the car to idle high when you first start it up....its how the engine warms up....as for stopping it, I dont think there's any real way to stop it other than engaging in a lot of electrical modification (ie. tricking the temp sensors)

This happens on any NORMAL day?
Or when it's hot, cold, raining, after driving a while, ect...
narrow it down bro

btw, someone is having the exact same prob as you on this board, check out his thread :)

every day it happens, my idle is fine after it warms up and the purge is done, but before that it sounds like its gonna die, then the hiss stops, drops to 500, then right back up to normal for the rest of the time the car is warmed up.

that's not normal... start with your EGR, make sure it works properly. the only purge thing I can think of is the charcoal evap canister purges into the intake...

that hiss makes me think there is a vacuum leak somewhere either with the EGR or the evap canister ... cuz mine doesn't hiss
