ultimate weight loss.
Jay's theory on an ek (1996-2000) hatch.

remove complete interior down to sound deadener. remove soud deadener.
put floor harness back in (if it has an abs option cut the abs wires out of the harness)
put back in civic type r carpet (light) OR modified oem carpet (remove all insulation)
put back in modified dashboard (after removing vent tubing, steel framing (some), vents, radio, cluster
put recaro seat
put ctr titantium shif****b or ssr discontinued ****
put digital tach
put fibreglass sheet plate for door

ultimate reduction for interior

not drag it can be used as a everday summer car.
its got a carpet to keep that full interior feel, its got fibreglass sheets covering the door and make sure it has a cut out for the roll up function to work.

you dont need heat, cooler, a/c for the summer really. and most of the civics dont even come with a/c and we all know the cool function is super stupid. so that being said the whole damn system can go.

you dont need passangers heating up your car and sweating up your car so no need for seats, headliners stink up the car if you smoke so no need for those, only thing i would keep would be a visor.

So what happens when your windows get fogged up? Dont need heat then? Sure if you want a ugly *** interior that you look like a fool, strip it.

are you stupid? heard of a wiper blade? and i guess you missed the part about the visor (that goes on the side of the car around the door frame) which allows you to open the window a little and not have water come in.

funny guy, I guess you've never not had a heater core in your car. It's awsome having fog on your windows and not being able to get it off. I guess with these tiny little engines the heat from that and the cooler air doesnt fog the windows up too much, but my small block chev in my Cutlass fogs that up real nice. The heat's gotta stay, ac and all that can go. I wasnt actually calling you stupid relax. I guess theres huge differences, cuz when I drive my Cutlass or my lt1 Camaro in summer at night when its cooled off, its damp and the windows get fogged up. As well as in the rain, dont really wanna have the windows open in the rain, the people in the backseat wont like it too much, that and they'll be sitting on buckets cuz u pulled the seats out lol. Anyways, If you really wanna save weight, you've got some good points the sound deader is brutal, and you can spray some rubberized on the floor instead and it'll be fine. In fact thats what factory drag cars did back in the muscle car days. Like the Ford Thunderbolt and like cars. Kinda cool if you clean up the floor and all the pillars and such.

crappy has it. It comes in roll on too. Get that stuff it's better than the aresol. Rubber undercoating with ashphalt or some ****. Or if you just want the look, spray rocker guard over your floor.

my bad about the stupid part i thought it was directed towards me.

anyways the reason your car does that is cuz its an American POS (piece of ****). honda's are better engineered then any american car any day and i would love to see you prove me wrong on this one.

oh btw whats the difference between driving the car when having no a/c without the cooler option on (since it does jack****) in the summer and not having the complete system at all? if its not gonna fog then i dont see it foggin after the system is removed. you can buy e-dead n crap like that you roll or spray on and its a sound proofing except its light.

yeah im going more for the look, id like it to look decent rather than plain metal, i was gonna get it painted but a waste of money. id rather some kind of coating also something to help block the sound when driving

depends what years of cars you are comparing. Pre-89 GM was good, after that, they've been going downhill, but I guarantee you match my 84 Cutlass against a 84 Civic and mine will last much longer. I know in the month I've had my honda I've repaired it more than I have with my Cutlass. Only thing in my Cutlass was a $60 heater core, plugs/wires/oil change. Mind you, I did alot of $$ unneccesary things as well, but repair wise, it's great. Not like the Honda which has all these noises, creaks, feel like 50 lbs, rust out over a night, dent if you sneeze on it, just material wise, and mechanically, I prefer my 84 Cutlass over my honda any day of the week. Put a set of gears in the car and it'll run a 15.5 on a stock 305 with smogged heads. $1000 all motor you'll be low 13s high 12s. Stock 305 with a stall, gears, and spray youre in 10s easy. It's really impossible trying to say something is better than over here on a Civic site, but yeah, I love my Cutlass great car, full frame, solid, reliable, dependable. But you cant compare apples to oranges. The imports are taking over in the new market I agree. All we can do is embrace it I suppose, which is fine with me cuz I hate new cars.

Then may I suggest Smoothing things out leave the seats in, the dash the console if you can make it look nice, and smooth the floor out with some sheet metal or something, weld up unneccesary holes and spray some rocker-guard or some concrete floor coating with the spackle. Thats the old school super stock drag race look. But in all seriousness I'd never do that to my car, full interior's the way to go, this stripped interior thing's all a fad.
