Which way do the rubber bushings go in the top hats
I know the top is correct, but the bottom is what i'm unsure of. I got a pic of how i've got it installed right now, just not sure if its right or not. thanks
Its going /\ into the top hat right now which makes sense since the metal piece fits perfectly this way, but a Honda picture that the dealership uses shows it the other way, facing this way V

that number 9 piece... is it possible that it could be worn down to nothing after 180,000kms and that could be causing the clunking noise i get everytime i go over a bump?
i have h&r race and kyb agxs and they make the noise whenever i hit a sewer grate or a harder bump... it takes the bump fine, buts its the noise thats killer. any ideas?
also, when i am making turns and etc it almost sounds like a scratching noise and on some bumpy roads...

alwaysoverkill, no prob. just look at the 'inprint' of the spring, or the inprint of the rubber onto the metal cup. that should get you on the right track.
mikepasini, I suppose it could be causing the noise, but I doubt it. First, that rubber insulator has little to no movement in it, thereby it doesn't wear out per se. it just gets hard over time. also, you mention noise while turning the wheel... (making turns)... is the noise there also with the car sitting still or is it only in motion. I suspect perhaps lower ball joints to be your culprit, but you will have to investigate. could also be swaybar endlinks, or swaybar bushings if so equipped.

clunking over bumps usually indicate endlinks as bruno said.
Jack the car up and grab the tire at 6 and 12 and shake it.. if there is movement, something is wrong, check what it is (ull see a bj moving or something).. also grab it at 3 and 9 and shake it.. that usually tells you about your tie rods, but can be used to check bj's as well. I've been fooled before thinking it was tie rods and not bjs but then took a closer look.
