Wat do i need to swap a D16Y7 into a 1995 cx hatch

posting for a friend wat does he need ?

Tyson09 16-May-2007 01:28 PM

well for starters he needs a d16y7, haha

whats in the car right now?

depending on whats in there he may only need the engine

polska_01 16-May-2007 01:51 PM

its just a stock cx motor... i was thinking of switching the distributor off the obd 1 cx motor to the Y7 motor and which flywheel do we use the other motor has a automatic torque converter and flywheel so can we use the 95 CX flywheel?
and how will the engine run with the 95 CX computer with the Y7motor

imported_chris_v2 16-May-2007 06:34 PM

do a search of obd2 to obd1 swaps.. its straight forward.

polska_01 18-May-2007 11:16 PM

ok so i swapped the motor with a buddy and theres a sensor on the drivers side lower end of the block theres no plug for it on the obd1 harness? and the hoses that come off the valve cover off the OBD1 cx intake manifold dont match up to the lines off the d16y7 block anyone?

zeeman 18-May-2007 11:20 PM

thats the crankshaft fluctuation sensor, you don't need that with an obd1 ecu, just leave it unplugged.
The 1.5L ecu might run a smidge lean on the d16y7 IMO.

polska_01 18-May-2007 11:27 PM

wat about the valve cover lines theres 1 that goes to the intake and then theres another set that run i think coolant ? there both attached?

zeeman 18-May-2007 11:30 PM

just get some hose and make it work, cut and clamp some stock lines of you have to. If you can't find a spot for the coolant line, just plug it. The line off the valve cover most likely goes to the intake tube, before the throttle body.

polska_01 18-May-2007 11:37 PM

will it screw anything up if i plug the coolant lines and the idle goes up and down now we broke this cap thing its on the very right side of the manifold its black has a bottle cap size head on it

zeeman 18-May-2007 11:53 PM

evap purge solenoid? Did you use the one off the old engine?
Did you bleed the coolant when starting up the car to make sure there are no air bubbles?
As long as you can't find a spot for the coolant line to go, plugging a line won't hurt anything. But plugging a line instead of making a line that will work would be silly.

aanother thing wen we are about to start the car key in the ON position the check engine lights flashes and clicks like CRAZY loud as fuk LOL wtf is that

polska_01 19-May-2007 01:00 AM

and theres crazy oil smoke coming from the header?

imported_chris_v2 19-May-2007 08:31 AM

Are you sure all your connections are fine? The smoke is just dirt and grease from your hands burning off. No biggie.

polska_01 20-May-2007 01:32 AM

there is water from the header and also theres like crazy coolant pouring out from the IAVC lol i checked most the connections most connections are fine anyone have exp with this ****?

imported_chris_v2 20-May-2007 10:19 AM

polska_01 20-May-2007 02:15 PM

the iavc is F@ked the actual plate is bent out of shape and the coolant just pours out the side of it ! so IAVC coolant problem is solved lol the car is in kitchener
