Washer Trick

So I tryed to do the washer trick on my 99 SiR tonight, and now I cant tighten one of the bolts all the way. It goes in about half way and than it gets REALLY tight. All the other bolts went in, so I have no clue what the problem is. I even tried to use alot of WD-40, but without luck.

Could there be dirt inside thats makes it get really tight?

Is my car unsafe to drive like this for a day, I have to go to work tomorrow?

Any other suggestions?

I was only using hand tools, and its a pretty awkward place to work in, so you can really use all your strength.

lol

its cross-threaded pal. Don't worry.. happens to the best of us. pull it out and re-thread it.

imported_99CivicSiR 13-May-2007 11:10 PM

I've pulled it out like 10 times, and it doesnt help.

imported_99CivicSiR 13-May-2007 11:11 PM

if someone can help me with this and putting on a new fuel filter, I will pay them $40.

imported_chris_v2 13-May-2007 11:13 PM

i know it doesnt help you have to RE-THREAD your threads. You put it in ****-eyed. Get a tap and die set and go to town.

I'll put your new filter on.. but im not touching another rear camber kit.

hahha, where do you live ?

imported_99CivicSiR 13-May-2007 11:25 PM

should I just buy a new bolt, or take it to honda ?

oakville

imported_99CivicSiR 16-May-2007 07:42 PM

so I used 4 washers, and my camber is still bad, do you guys see any problem with useing 6 washers ?

Cynikal.Mindset 16-May-2007 07:48 PM

how bloody low is your car and how do u know the camber is so bad still?

imported_chris_v2 16-May-2007 08:00 PM

you want your filter done or what? lol

RDub99 16-May-2007 08:01 PM

maybe you're doing it wrong

Tyson09 16-May-2007 08:03 PM

make sure the washers are between the car and the arm...not the bolt head and the arm. :shrugs:

imported_chris_v2 16-May-2007 08:10 PM

^lol that would be funny

Notorious 16-May-2007 08:54 PM

If you used 6 washers, I'm sure you would have had to use longer bolts. (Maybe around 50mm or maybe 60mm)

If one of them is giving you a problem, you may have to re-thread it.

imported_99CivicSiR 16-May-2007 10:38 PM

yea, I know Im doing it right. My car is lowered 2.25". I used a level on my tires, and its a alot better, but it needs like 2 more washers.

Im going tomorrow to the shop to get it re-threaded, and to get a new fuel filter.

What else should I do for a tune up.

Ive done: oil change, transmission, brake, clutch, coolant.

imported_99CivicSiR 16-May-2007 10:39 PM

By the way, im useing 50mm bolts, should that be good for 6 washers ?

Tyson09 16-May-2007 10:46 PM

for the tune up get some new spark plugs maybe a new distributer cap...but i wudn't pay to have them done ...do them urself.

and for the 50mm bolt...i dont know

imported_chris_v2 16-May-2007 11:01 PM

Drop by my house and ill tell you excatly what you need for a tune-up..
