warranty question

Hello,

I have a 2005 Civic SE.
Also have a AEM V2 Intake installed.

will or does the intake affect/void my warranty with honda?

bbarbulo 22-Sep-2005 06:11 PM

depends on the dealer, but NO it should NOT. In fact AEM products were offered for a while in the USA through the dealership, even on brand new cars they were included in the finance package.

it wont void ur whole warranty, but it will void ur warranty on your air intake. also, as long as whatever happens to ur engine isnt caused by ur mods, then itll be covered under warranty. whatever you change, thats where ur warranty is voided.change ur suspension, and ur whole suspension is no longer under warranty.

and it all depends on if the dealer is trying to be a jerk or not... but then there isn't just one honda dealer around the whole gta... so you're safe... and i don't think every dealer or every employee are jerks

It's always better to ask, especially with a brand new car you dont' want to risk it

Doesn't Parkway sell AEM stuff? I don't know if theirs counts towards warranty work or what, but they have a bunch of intakes there and I think they're AEM. I could be mistaken, though.

If you're taking it in for an OIL change or something and you're worried they'll find it and take you to school, just have your original (tell me you kept it) swapped back on for the time being.

I've read about guys that go as far as swapping exhast/suspension/seats/etc....in and out when they go to the dealer so their warranty isn't voided.

put the oem back on for/when warrenty work :shrugs: problem solved.

chances are you will never have warrenty work done anyway...its a honda :p

thanks for the help guys.

I spoke to Brett at Parkway Honda about the same thing :)

Apparently Honda has an internal policy on this, CAI 's void warranty on your powertrain. Your engine blows, you are screwed.

I waited until near the end of my warranty to change anything.
