Want To Get It Lowered!
I really want to lower my car, but I was just wondering, how much should I be saving up for this???
I am totally clueless when it comes to this stuff...I would appreciate if someone could please enlighten me on this...thanks in advance. |
depends how low you want your car

well to lower it properly you'd need springs and shocks... so look at saving 1000 to 1500 depending on what you wanna get that will buy a nice set of springs and shocks...

it cost me about $900 for illuminas and sportlines and its a pretty good ride...now im saving for strut bars

couple of hundred bux would get you springs thats it... to lower your car...

If you know anyone in the states, or visit there frequently, ebay is your best bet.

technically you can lower your car for a couple hundred bux... but in time you'll hate driving your car

Not totally true about the hating of driving your car, I dropped my old car on its stock struts with eibach sportlines, it was an okay ride, as long as your not expecting amazing performance with just springs you wont really be dissapointed lol. I know that the struts will wear down faster but by that time Id prolly have enuf money to go buy the struts :thumbup:

yes you could go out and buy ****ty coil overs or springs for a coupel hundred bux..but you could also go out and sniff drano..hte point beign I would not reccomend it...if yoru on a tight budget then get some h&r's with tokico blues..or illumina's you will probobly be abel to be under 1000 bux..if you install them yourself....but you will be very happy wiht the end result compared to the ****ty cheapo route...:thumbup:

if youre going to go with just springs....eibachs are a good choice

I'm in the same boat here, I'm riding the stock wheels, good 'ol 13's. I'll probably get a set of 16" wheels which will cost a bundle. I was also under the wrong impression that a lowering job would be below the 500 mark. I'm surprised to hear that standard oil shocks will bring the price to nearly a G note.
I'm wondering where I can get my car dropped a couple inches and what specific brands to request for both the springs & shocks. btw, lowering springs implies a coilover kit right? not regular short springs? I'd need the abilility to bring her back up in the winter time. |
lowering springs are just that lowering springs... much better ride usually then a coil over... and a coil over is well a coil over...
what parts and names you get depends on how much you want to spend |
For 800 bucks I got Eibach Pro Kit and KYB Gr2s. The ride is pretty good but now that I have them I wish the car sat lower. They lower the car about 1.75 inches. The good thing is I don't need a camber kit.

How low can you drop a 92-95 before needing a camber adjustment kit? I hear 1.75 drop will still manage to get most of your tire's contact patch applied to the road. Any lower and it needs a camber adjustment, that true?

How low can you drop an '99 Hatch before using any camber kit? I hear everybody with 1.75in drop or less, wish they went for something more than a 2in. I made a thread and several people said that the EK Hatch can take 2in or over before need any camber kit, is this true?
