vtech or non vtech
this may sound like a dumb question but whatever.. i have a 98 si.. and ever since i bought i thought it wasnt v-tech because it does not say v-tech on the valve cover.. and after 5000 rpm it doesnt kick in.. ive owned v-tech cars b4 and this is not a v-tech.. but my friend came over today and hes actually pretty smart with hondas.. and he took a look at the engine and said i do have v-tech but its not installed properly.. he pointed to a little cylinder looking object right next to the valve cover.. there is also wires coming out of it.. (i 4get where they were connecting and its too dark to check now) but i wana know if this is a v-tech.. it does not say v-tech ANYWHERE on the car.. thanks guys.. i need to know if it is v-tech because if it is im gona bring it back to the dealership whiel its still under warranty and tel them to fix it..

Thank you for the intelligent response Matt
Yes your car should have Vtec. SOHC Vtec is not really noticeable, I have it myself, but it should be there. |

yeah sorry I forgot... thats true.. but it looks the same??

the cylinder thing is called a vtec solenoid and your car is an si model so it should have vtec. Its hard to hear or feel the vtec on that motor, especially if u have a stock exhaust. So if your car is running fine and you arent getting any check engine lights, i wouldnt worry too much, chances are the vtec is working, just cant tell because its wuss vtec :)
|
yeah d series vtec is not noticable at all (i think) if the block is stamped D16Y8 its vtec but if you feel that its not working or you just wanna make sure you could always take it in for warrenty (you said you still have a warrenty on it ?)
