VTEC notifier light...

ok i have an idea sn i want to know if it has been done.

when the vtec solonoid is gettin pushed over by the controler i assume it recives an electrical signal, is it possible to moniter that with perhaps an LED on the dash or somthing to "let you know" when you hit vtec and when it's actually on teh second lobes?

basicaly i am thinking of running a low gauge wire to the positve terminal then sending tha tto an led on a resistor then grounding the other side to be able to gauge when i am in the vtec range.

I DO NOT WANT A VTEC CONTROLER!!!

i only want a VTEC notifier and i want it to be an led on my dash in a locatin i choose.

has / can this be done?

bdotdan 04-Nov-2005 02:23 PM

yeah its been done, probably a write up on here somewhere too

Martin .. easy to do .. take a wiring from the positive terminal of the VTEC solonoid and connect it to one end of a 470 ohm resister.. connect the other end of the resistor to the positive terminal of the LED and connect the negative terminal of the LED to ground...

then whenever the Solonoid is activated teh light will be on...

why would anyone want this anyways???

^^^ I've always wondered that. I know when im in VTEC by the feel!

Im sure that light will get real annoying real fast, especially at night, I hope you wire up an on/off switch for it to.

actually i have a del sol and it's going to be located behind the stereo hiding slide cover and will only be so i can learn more about the car's behaviours near and at change over.

why would someone want that?

you think in seconds in a race right?

well me and jay think in milliseconds and knowing more about your car means that you can time things better for instance keeping her in vtec when approoaching a corner so the change over isn't costing you power in exit.

it's ok, you'll probably think i am a ricer but realisticaly i have goals behind my madness and all of them are to do with me and not the car.

tuning your car is half the battle, guys like me and gatherer are tuning our selves too, and that's why i would mod somthing to make me know more and more acurate information than you...

^^ Excellent reasoning for having the light, You definitely answered my question. Personally i like to go by the feeling and sound of the car rather then using a visual aid.

G A Y mod

its so pointless and such a waste of time? Use that time for something more productive.

glad i could answer ya. i reread my answer and it may have been a bit harsh but it wasn't meant to be.

but i am glad you took it for an expliniation.
i'll let you know how it works wone i get it in.

i went to a buddy club v-con instead.. it's brilliant

Chigga1 26-Nov-2005 10:41 PM

the change over in VTEC is so noticeable!
on the DOHC anyways!

on the SOHC... didnt feel it too much

Younes Si 27-Nov-2005 12:08 AM

ya, it can be done....I've had mine for over a year now
check it out...

we already got that far man.. the v-con is a full vtec controler that allows you to not only be given info on teh vtec but also change the change over points.

ya i don't see the point either but hey, not my car.
plus we know, at certain RPM VTEC is engaged.

By reading your rant not only am I convinced your a ricer I am also convinced you know nothing about your car and driving.
