VSS conector located or speedo cable 96ek

where is the VSS conector located in the engine bay on a 96 civic EK model?

VSS is located on the top of the transmission, behind the bracket for the transmission mount, closer to the engine side of the transmission

can i reach it without going under the car?

this happened the same day I got the oil changed.....is it possible the mechanic touched the VSS conector?

i don't see why they would have touched the VSS. You can easily acess the VSS without getting under the car. You might have to remove your intake tube but you should be able to reach under the intake tube to get to the VSS.

did the mechanic do a tranny fluid drain and re-fill?
if so he could have used the vss port as a filler and maybe the little pin inbetween the vss gear and connector fell out. (happened to me once).

and the location of the vss like shawn and andrew mentioned its on the top part of the transmission on the passanger shock tower side under the air intake tube.
