Vibration When Brakes Are Applied

Hi Guys

THis shaking I am talking about only occurs when I am fully stopped and I have the brakes applied. Basically when I am stopped if I put my foot on the brake pedal my steering wheel vibrates, but as soon as I release the brakes the vibrations go away. Any ideas?

I believe one of your rotor (or both) is warpped.

Either get it resurfaced (if it has enough thickness left) or buy a new rotor with new pads.

If he's at a dead stop and not moving, then it has nothing to do with his brakes...

does your engine seem to idle heavier too when you do that?

Exactly guys it has nothing to do with the brakes really as it only happens at a dead stop. I also recently had my front brakes and rotors changed, but ever after all that the problem still exists. I don't notice any real or major drop in Idle .. its still idles normally whether I have my foot on the brake or not.

hmm actually when I think about it, I my AC compressor is vibrating a lot which sometimes causes part of the front of my hood to shake. Maybe its the compressor vibrations I am feeling since the engine idle doesn't change.

Sounds like you have a slight vacuum leak somewhere, causing the idle to fall as you use more vacuum through the booster plus the leak you have. cuz the IACV is metered to provide just enough air for the engine to idle under those conditions. alternatively, your IACV is so carboned up that it's causing a flow restriction under vacuum demand.

so. check for a leak with a gauge, if ok then remove and clean throttle body/IACV.

the end.

you don't need to, you drive a new car.

might be 10 years before you have to get dirty again

As usual you give some great answers man. I'll have a mechanic do a Vacuum leak test next time to see what's going on. I've cleaned my IACV fairly recently and its clean as a whistle so I doubt that's the problem unless its shot or something.
