well my speedo went this week. anyone know where the censor is located, and how it can be replaced. Is it even worth it to do it myself?

VSS - located on top of the tranny....if you do a search there is some threads on this, and some pics as well.. ( i know cause I've posted them )

i forgot to mention a check engine light doesnt turn on...maybe its the cluster?

you have a 4th gen isn't the tranny mechanically connected to the speedo? or some junk like that???

^^unless you are sir clustered, then you have a electric vss

You got a 90 Civic.. it's a mechanical cable. There is no VSS. Check and see if the cable's poped out of the tranny. It's in the back, by the firewall, beside the rear mount.

yes - check that the cable didn't come out of the tranny also check that the cable isn't broken

This just happened to mine 2 weeks ago on my 90 si

I found out that it was a broken cable - $38.51 from Honda

and my check engine light only came on like 5 times - I thought there was something else wrong but.....nope it was the cable
