Valve Spring Compressor- How do I use it?

I picked up a valve spring compressor from Crappy Tire last night.
I tried to compress the spring based on the vague instructions on the box, but to no avail.

Anyone out there who has done this before, please help me out!

Thanks.

I used the one from crappy tire...does yours come with four 'U' hookd and 2 long threaded bolts?

If so, you loop the 'U''s over a part of the spring, 2 on each side. Place one near the top the other near the botton same on the other side. put the large nut on the botton of each of the long bolts and spin it up to the bottom 'U".

Sad picture...

Now start cranking on the top of the nut and this will compress the spring. It'll take a bit fo time and effors w/o and air tool.

Hope that helps...ask again and I can try to exaplin a little better.

Negative... that's a Strut Spring Compressor, not a Valve Spring Compressor. For some reason PolskiSi feels inclined to scatter parts of his head all over the garage LOL... I would think by now if you are pulling cams/rockers/valves out of your head, it would be wise to at least own one or more technical book/manual about your car. I can't tell you how to use it since I don't know what type you have, but like I said, a manual would come in pretty handy right about now.

JaySi, nice illustration

Thanks for the effort, jay. But yeah, I'm looking for valve spring compressor instructions... Thanks anyway, man.

bbarbulo...I will post up the exact name and model # of it tonight.

Cams and rockers have been pulled, already.
I've got an old D15 that I'm dicking around with. (Not literally)
I have the Haynes, as well as the Helms for my car. But they don't explain how to remove the Valve spring step by step.
I got the tool last night, and tried to get the damn thing to work.

For some reason, I have the feeling that it may be too big for the valves - is that at all possible?
I'll try and post up pics tonight, or tomorrow morning showing what I mean.

OK, some pics would be good too, cuz maybe like you said the tool could be too big. CT rents universal stuff, so
