Using Winter tires in the summer

Hey, just wondering what are the results of using winter tires in the summer? The tires have amzing dry, wet and snow taction.

Any ideas?

Other than the fact that handling sucks and the rubber will wear down 10 times faster, it's okay!

imported_phuviano 10-Apr-2005 04:52 PM

don't be cheap, just buy some summer tires.

imported_Mikeye 10-Apr-2005 04:54 PM

Yeah I want to get summer tires, but i havta use these for at least 1 more month because I dont got a job =P.
lol

well... in that situation, you should be fine. I find that my winter tires actually handle better in dry traction than my stock tires. I don't have my stock tires any more though.

The winter tires will actually handle much better because it is much softer. In the other case it will wear a lot faster because it is meant for wet and snow traction.

Nope... that's not the reason. Stock tires that come on civics suck. My proxes 4's that I have on now, handle way better than my winter tires.

I use to ride on them all year round for a few years with no problems, so yeah they're fine. They're especially great for the qrtr track...it's a poor mans racing slicks...LOL

imported_Mikeye 10-Apr-2005 06:59 PM

lol you use to ride on winter tires all year round? Did you find that the winter tires wear out much quicker?

imported_QRTR 10-Apr-2005 07:05 PM

I didn't notice any drastic wear on the winter tires while riding on them in the summer but then again I don't fancy the curves . The only curves I like are on a woman.

Then I should be ok with winter tires! HAHA!

It depends on the rubber compound in your winters. My tires are so soft that if you drove in 20 plus temps you would peel the rubber off in almost no time. Where as some winters use a harder compound and could be driven on all year around.

Well here are the tires:

Just gonna use them for this entire year.

What you guys think?

yO 10-Apr-2005 10:01 PM

Same one I have..

They're gonna wear out pretty quick man.

imported_QRTR 10-Apr-2005 10:02 PM

You should be alright , nice snow tires.

Notorious 10-Apr-2005 10:02 PM

If its just for another month dont worry about it. If your planning on going all summer with them, I would suggest investing in some used tires.

imported_Mikeye 10-Apr-2005 10:19 PM

Damn, I wanna use these for this summer and the coming winter and then get rid of them in April next year.

yO 10-Apr-2005 10:20 PM

Just grab some cheap all seasons... and save those for winters where it really matters.

kwikb16a2 10-Apr-2005 10:30 PM

those will wear out in no time, we sell at walmart and there super soft

imported_Mikeye 10-Apr-2005 10:36 PM

Damn, alright cheap all seasons it is!

what's the best cheap tires?
