using a manual charger
hey everyone, i bought a manual battery charger from canadian tire because my battery keeps dying. if i boost it it'll run but once i shut it off there's no turning on again untill i boost it again.
I charged it once for about 2 hours. the interior lights would turn on and stuff but it wasn't enough to start the car.
how long should I charge my battery for with the manual charge. I don't wanna screw up my battery or die either lol

first I'd get a load test done on the battery to determine if its even worth charging. (c/t, parts source does this for free)
2 hours isn't enough for some batteries. As long as you don't exceed charging it by more than 35 amps (which your charger isnt doing) and the battery doesnt exceed 52 C/125 F, it's not going to over-charge.
Hoenstly.. i'd just bring the batt. to c/t and get them to charge it for you (its free) and if its dead, replace it. If it dies again, do an AVR test, your charging system could be faulty.

sounds like the battery is dead already... did you spill the acid or something lol
I had a new battery once, I accidentally spilled the acid from it, and it wouldn't hold charge anymore. bought an optima to replace it.

if you have a multimeter throw it on DC at 20v and test your battery if its less than 12.4v it's not worthy of a load test. But if you're there anyways and it's not worth it, at least you can get a battery when you're there. If the load test is completed and your battery drops below 9.6v that means new battery, so watch the load tester and make sure you're not getting told to buy a battery if you dont need one.

Depends on the volts thing. At work I load tested batteries @ 11.xV. yeah yeah I know, but however they never dropped below 9.6v. I just ended up charging them up for the rest of day. That was about four months ago and they still work like a dream.
If the battery is only 5 months old I would assume you'll still have a warrenty?
