Type R (P73) Pistons Into My B16a2 Engine

What Are the benifits if any

and negative points?

anything else i would have to do.?

Would this raise or lower my compression?

sorry if this is an too open ended

im not sure but i think it will raise the compression to what a type r has

Block: B16
Head: B16
Headgasket: Oem 3 layer - 0.029"

Compression - 10.19:1

Stock compression - 10.20:1

I would say this is a good OEM replacment if B16A pistons cant be found.

If you use P73 ITR pistons in a B16A with stock B16A head, and crank and rods you'll net yourself a nice 9.7:1 compression ratio.

Vs the 10.2/10.4 of a B16A, i wouldn't use them! ;)

i agree with ^^^^^. Why would you want to lower the compression? Unless going turbo, but still there would be a better choice of piston (forged) for boosted application.

i plan on turbo in the future. (near future).... so i understood that the type r may lower compression. but was unsure......

If you're going to all the trouble to replace the pistons, i'd spring for some forged pistons while you have the motor open.
